The write up for the hotel suggests it is on the ocean front, it's certainly not. It is in the middle of two major roads and the nearest restaurants are a 15 minute walk away, via a camping ground, which is very poorly lit at night. Our upgraded seaview room actually overlooked a busy road, with the Ocean some way... more

Stayed in this hotel because it was the official hotel for a wedding I attended. Location is very strange....in between two lanes of the highway. Technically it was across the street from a beach, but you had to cross the street, walk down a driveway and through a campground to get there. The front desk staff were so horrible it... more

Stayed one night at hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Mattress a little too soft. Restaurant food was terrible. I travel quite a bit so I am used to middle of road food - but this was terrible. Chicken sandwich came on soggy bun, salad was overdressed and fries were crispy, soggy and not cooked all in the same bunch... more

We picked the DT because my brother's family was camping at the beach. The campground is literally right across the street, an easy walk to their campsite. To get the best price we paid in advance, made it very competitive. We had a suite with partial ocean view. There were four adults in the room and it was quite tolerable.... more

Although the room was a spacious suite, and clean, the bathroom was ridiculously small. We were on the 2nd floor from the top and our room had a great view, but there was no point in sitting on the balcony to enjoy it as any conversation was drowned out by the road noise from below (and exhaust fumes when traffic... more

I had business in Dana Point in August, 2009. I had a hard time finding a hotel in the area -- they were either very cheap and somewhat dingy looking or VERY expensive. So, I was happy when I stumbled upon the DoubleTree, which had the location and mid-range price that I was looking for. Compared to other hotels in... more

We were so excited to stay here, knowing that the suites were good for families. AAA rate was great, $188, $almost $23 for parking, but the rooms were very small, with low ceilings in the bathrooms. Bed was comfortable and view was decent. Only camping is between you and the ocean if you get an ocean room. Walls are paper... more

We needed a place near the water to escape a late summer heat wave. We paid for two nights and used Hilton points for the third. As mentioned by many other reviewers the suites are SMALL. I mean REALLY small. But the main annoyance was the layout of the room. It was just my husband and my 4 year old... more

The rooms are beginning to show lots of wear. The bathroom was layed out poorly. No place in the TINY bathroom to set any personal items. The shower door is very akward. I called the desk to ask to change rooms about 10 am because the neighbors were so loud. They were very nice and said they would. I packed... more

Nice hotel across the street from the beach, with convenient access and plenty of parking. Got a good deal on a suite for $129, so I relaxed in the Dana Point area for a bit. Pros: Typical Doubletree suite, with two rooms and balconies. Pull-out couch in separate room with dorm fridge and microwave. Wolfgang Puck coffee pods. Crabtree &... more
