The hotel dates back to the 19th century. The rooms are restored in thier original sate, apart from air conditioning and plumbing. Showers are in the corridor, bathrobes and amenities are provided. The reception was very friendly, the receptionist was very helpful in advising restaurants and outings. We haven't been bothered by gjosts, in fact in these past four weeks... More

We loved this hotel. It was packed with antiques. We sat in the communal area and played our cards at a real Victorian card table! It was like a museum where you are allowed to use the exhibits! Our room had a private loo, but we had to use showers just down the corridor. As bathrobes were provided and the... More

This was a wonderful stay in a historic setting. We could not have dreamt of a more authentic experience. We were surrounded by antiques that in most places one cannot even touch, little use have for their use. What a wonderful, serene, setting. The reconstructed town was deserted at night, it was very quiet, but in the morning it came... More

At check-in we were greeted by Wade who also toured us to our rooms. Wade is a great guy with alot of interesting knowledge of the property and the area. The rooms were historically furnished with amazing bedframes, dressers, and wallpaper. A common room upstairs as well as the balcony were great for hanging out. Unfortunately the restaurant and saloon... More

Great hotel--very friendly people, comfy beds with giant headboards, beautiful antiques, quiet. (And we were told the place is haunted by a nice lady ghost.) Really cool to plunge yourself into the Old West Gold Rush experience. Staff gave us the code & demo on how to unlock front entrance to let ourselves back in at night--when we had the... More

As others have said; this is a hotel that tries to look/feel like an 18XX era hotel. OK, so no TV, phone, etc, but the air conditioning works great. Wifi also worked fine. Read the other reviews and decide if a little adventure is what you want. You and the other guests are likely to be the only ones in... More

We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage just off the main street area of the State Park. We were able to park and were just at the edge of the pedestrian only area. The cottage is clean and simple and has a full kitchen and a fenced in yard. Perfect location for the town and for the Gold Rush area... More

Let's be honest...how often to you get to stay in a period hotel in a restored gold mining town, at a reasonable price? We loved the quaint rooms, furniture and wallpaper. The staff were great and very responsive. Just let them know what time you plan to arrive so they can help you plan your arrival. If you are looking... More

We recently stayed overnight at the City Hotel in Columbia. It is truly a trip back in time! Be aware.. there is no telephone in room, no television in room, no one in service at night, and you must go down the hallway to shower. We were given a key to the main door of the hotel with special directions... More

Fun, back in time place to visit. Hotel was originally built around 1870? 10 rooms, double beds with 1/2 baths. Private shower rooms just a few steps away.No phones or televisions to maintain authenticity. Wi-Fi is available. Continental breakfast served every day. Restaurant downstairs has excellent food. Old world, 19th century ambience is maintained everywhere. Want to get away from... More
