We had lunch at City Hotel Restaurant in the middle of Columbia State Park. The food was very fresh and albeit the portions were small, the food was very good. The service was lacking and extremely slow. It was a weekend and the waitstaff seemed short-handed, even for this time of the year. We had a glass of wine and... More

Go back in time to 1850 go back to when the beds were thick and squeeky and the rooms only had an oil lamp. Its all at this great hotel you are greeted and checked in by lovely people in costume of the time. OK you do not have tv ensuit facilities, but you will have a great time.

We went to the City Hotel for dinner to be part of a CD release concert by an Irish Band, and ended up having a surprisingly good meal. The surprise came because over the past few years the hotel management, and the dining room, have gone through some significant changes. At one time it was run as part of a... More

My family rented five rooms in July for a family reunion. The historically decorated rooms we found very comfortable (modern central Air Conditioning) and the staff extremely helpful & friendly which helped to make our reunion seamless. We rented the balcony room which had a separate commode area with sink and a balcony area overlooking the street below. We enjoyed... More

We stayed here midweek in August, and we were the only guests in the hotel. The town is busy by day, but when things close we had the place to ourselves. It was like spending the night in a ghost town - we loved it. The hotel is furnished with beautiful antiques, straight from the era, and the staff is... More

We stayed in one of the cottages which was a perfect accommodation while visiting this historic town. The cottage was simple but immaculate and it included everything necessary for our two day visit. The staff was very courteous and most helpful. We highly recommend this special little place.

We visited Columbia again and found the 2 bedroom cottage was was clean and had a well equipped kitchen, as when we visited in 2014. It is located 1/2 block from historic Columbia's main street, so very convenient. The town doesn't take long to see but it's nice to just walk down the street to see it. The bedrooms are... More

If you are interested in the history of the California Gold Rush, Columbia State Historic Park is one of the key attractions in the area. Although I had been there quite a few times in the past I had never stayed there, preferring to make day trips. The town does have two operating hotels in the town: The City Hotel... More

We loved this place! Built in the mid 19th century, in the middle of a preserved historic town, we were pleasantly surprised at how well the place is kept up. The hotel is furnished in period Victorian style. The staff dress accordingly. They are very friendly and helpful. We stayed during a heat wave and the retro-fitted air conditioning in... More

Our stay at the City Hotel was short--just one night--but it was a comfortable stay. The room, numero dos, was NOT haunted (at least we didn't experience anything) and was very nice. The bed was a little creaky, but my husband and I slept on the double-size bed just fine. It was very hot when we arrived, but the AC... More
