The owner and his wife is very friendly and really take care of us. Very nice and clean room, best breakfast at our USA-trip (stay at 12 hotel , 3-4 star, in 4 weeks) The stay at Primero is something we never forget. 2 grateful Swedes

My husband and I have been to San Diego many times, but usually stay in one of the large hotel chains close to downtown. Not anymore! We loved the El Primero! The owners, Pie and Sol, made us feel like family. The continental breakfast was delicious, beds were comfy, rooms were a little small, but I think it just added... More

We stayed for one day only, but since we arrive the person that was in charge was soooo nice!! he made us felt like we were home, everything we needed in side the hotel they take care of it. The only thing I found a little concernt is that at night they closed the hotel and you have to ring... More

A real find for us. This was a suberbly clean, quiet hotel, which had been lovingly and tastefully restored by the delightful owners. The breakfasts provided a great start to the day with a buffet style presentation with fresh fruit plates, eggs, cereal, toast, yoghurt. Very easy access to central San Diego with the addded bonus of free parking at... More

We were going to see Dave Matthews & wanted something close to the Amphitheatre. This is a Historical Building, but with updated furnishings in the rooms. The owners are great! They are friendly & helpful. It’s like you staying with long time friends! It has a limited amount of rooms which I liked very much as it made it such... More

Stayed 6 nights, and had an absolutely wonderful vacation. The owners helped with questions about the area, and we enjoyed talking to them and meeting other guests. The breakfast is truly wonderful, with the fresh mango being the best I have ever had. With such nice weather and hotel, I hope that we can come back one day! The del... More

While visiting the San Diego area for a wedding and a little R & R, my husband and I made the mistake of allowing website photos of a promising hotel entice us to make reservations. Once we arrived, I seriously almost cried. Nothing was as it said or looked. After 24 hours, and a very terrible night sleep, we searched... More

We had a beautiful room (Montezuma room), was very clean, comfy bed, and was quieter than I had expected! Only downside is the window looks out onto the courtyard, so not very private. You need to draw the curtains. We stayed during Comic-con and found it very easy to get around.

This is not a big fancy hotel chain type of place but I have nothing bad to say about this hotel at all. I thought it was hard to find a decent place to stay in Chula Vista, and this little place exceeded my expectations! The owners are the nicest people and my room was very clean (small room but... My expectations were pleasantly exceeded! I was visiting Chula Vista to see the Kings of Leon perform at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre. This was my first time staying at a bed & breakfast and after acknowledging all the great reviews here, I gave El Primero a chance. My friend and I loved the hotel from the moment we spoke to...
