Thanks, Irene; I had to find a place near the Enloe medical center. I arrived late at night, and my wife forgot to make my reservation with ya'll... But you fitted me in, and made me at home for 3-4 days while a sad time in my life played out...you listened to my story, and told me some of yours!... More

Stayed 3 nights with my wife and daughter. This is just a place to shower and shave. Clean grounds, Comfy bed, Nice pool, friendy owners. Down side is old towels, small pillows, Micro did not work, But descent size Fridge. Quite sleep. Owners control the AC which really is not fair. The place is inexpensive so you get what you... More

Gorgeous pool, spacious grounds, very nice owners. Safe neighborhood with Turandot Chinese restaurant across the street and Starbucks right next door. The rooms are basic, though I enjoyed some vintage light fixtures and laz-y-boy recliners. Slept fine and peacefully on a good bed.

Our group leader had selected this motel, and after reading reviews, we almost cancelled our reservation. But the price was right. We had room 48, which was toward the back of the motel, down the side yard. The room size was adequate, with a king size bed. The bathroom was small, and had some broken tiles and a weird shower... The Matador attracted us when driving by with its mexican style. So we turned around and booked a room. We like the architecture and the style with colored tiles at the walls and floor tiles as well that kept the room cool. It is really old, has a minimum of Equipment, some tiles are broken, the shower is dripping and... More

What a great deal! We loved our sweet room with the the tile floor, huge closet and old fashioned dressing table area. The bathrooms were original retro with beautiful tile. The pool was lovely and surrounded by big palm trees - they even had a couple of floaties which was great. It was so hot in Chico but our room... More

I really wanted to like this place and say great things. The owners are the nicest people ever. They were very welcoming when I arrived and continued to be very friendly. The property is 100% 70's motel, so keep this all in mind when you're booking. Bring your own shampoo, there's no complementary sundries (except soap). They must have a... More

I just wanted to even up the negative reviews this motel has gotten. Yes, the place is old, and consequently, some of the faucets drip. But this place is unique. No chain can provide what this place has. We only stayed here one night, but we swam in the pool, slept in the bed and we lived to tell our... More

At over $50 a night this room is no good. I would much rather take motel 6 over this any day. The matador is older than most its visitors and I can promise that. Most TVs don't work, theres cracks in the widows, the carpet is disgusting, theres no air temp control (it's controlled from the office), there never any... More

This place is really neat architecturally - mission revival style with cheesy 40's elements. The rooms, common areas, and parking lot are unusually spacious. I loved the relaxed, airy feel of the premises there on the Esplanade. We didn't take a swim, but the pool and deck around it are huge. This would be a perfect place to stay in... More
