Really enjoyable stay! Great location with access to Devil's kitchen (way more awesome than Bumpass Hell, I thought). Great hospitality and all meals provided. Very nice hot pool. Only negatives were the bed stuck in the corner of the room felt claustrophobic. Outdoor showers were OK. The happy hours were great for meeting other guests and they have a fire... More

Since there have been only a few reviews for the past 2 years in which Drakesbad has been under new management, I decided it was time for me to chime in. We have gone to Drakesbad both in 2012 and 2013, in late September/early October for both years. We stayed in the lodge, ate at the dining hall, soaked in... More

The saying goes that the end of the journey matters but the journey matters in the end. To us humans travelling through life this end to a journey is pure tranquillity and even if approached via Mount Lassen Volcanic park is still better than the journey. Fantastic staff, food and other guests let alone the stunning scenery and things to... More

If you are looking for peace, quiet and a beautiful setting, this is the place to be. Food, lodging, staff...fabulous...No cell phone, No TV, No internet, No electricity. This is really getting away from "it all". Hiking is wonderful. Hot pool after a long day...mmmmmmm If you embrace this place, you go back to your world truly refreshed. We are... More

I stayed in bungalow 2 for 3 nights in September, 2013. My room was very dusty. The heater looked like it hadn't been dusted in months. The water pressure in the bathroom was low, and there was a hole in my bedspread. The positives about Drakesbad are its location (inside Lassen National Park), the food (all good meals included in... Drakesbad has had a change of management in the last couple of years. seems you have to call WELL ahead for any meals or activities now, instead of just a day or two. Also, the park service is trying to turn the meadow into a swamp, thus bringing into creation swarms of mosquitos and other bugs. The hot pool is... More

My husband and I spent 5 days at Drakesbad Guest Ranch in August 2013, and could not have had a more fantastic stay. The place has several attributes going for it that sets it apart: The Food - They’ve hired two chefs (David and Gaylan) who are professionally trained, and the food reflects that quality. The dishes are created with... More

I do wish that I could rate our visit as highly as the rest of the reviewers here. This was a first visit for my husband and myself, so we were not experiencing it through a nostalgic haze. I should also state that we have stayed in various historical properties (Curry Village, Wawona Hotel, Wolf Lodge in Yosemite; Old Fathful... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Drakesbad Guest Ranch. One of our core values is providing excellent customer service so we were very disappointed to read your review. Let me start by addressing and apologizing for the issues that you experienced in cabin 9. The toilet seat and Kerosene lamp have both been replaced.... More

We had 2 days and 1 night of pure enjoyment at Drakesbad. We would have enjoyed another night, but others planned better than we did so there was no availability. Pat was a fabulous host and genuinely treated us like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. In addition to the quaint cabin accommodations and the fabulous food, come for the... More
