The Dolphin Inn is like an old car with over 200,000 miles on the odometer--the paint is faded and chipped, the upholstery is worn and torn, but it starts up and gets you where you want to go. The Dolphin Inn looks weary. It could use new paint and repair work. Our room was spacious and clean under the low... More

Since 2004 I have been staying at the Dolphin Inn because it is all I need: a quiet place to sleep, very reasonable rates, and a staff that's friendly as well as competent. For anyone who wants to spend twice as much for luxury, please go ahead, and leave more reservation dates open for me.

I have stayed at this place by myself and really enjoyed it with the kitchen and my dog...was pretty cool...it was pretty quiet...couple of guests hanging out but to bed early...I have now taken my beautiful new wife with me ...and we have some pros and cons about it.....we would come again for sure knowing that this is not uptown...we... This property needs some repair work immediately. The heater did not work in the guest cottage that we stayed in. The owner came to light it 3 or 4 times, but it would not stay lit. They had an electric heater that would not maintain its temperature. It would overheat and we would shut it off and then have to... More

We stayed there a few months ago. It's not fancy but neither was the price. Come on, how much did you think it's going to cost for a room in a small coastal town in California? We got what we paid for. We got a clean room, easy access to the beach (even if we had to cross the street)... More

There were only two hotels available in Cayucos for the weekend we were going. Both had poor reviews but the Dolphin was a little better. The cost for one night was $179.00 but should have been priced around $80.00. Supply and demand of course is the driving factor. The place is old and shows it. It just feels neglected. However,... This is a hometown style motel, right on the main road, just a short hop to the beach, restaurants and Shops. The room was surprising clean with confortable bed, we had a major step down into our bathroom, which proved to be a little rough in the middle of the night, but the shower was warm and nice. Breakfast was... More

We made a mistake by not booking somewhere in advance in Morro Bay. It was Veterans weekend and every hotel was booked out. We decided to drive on to Cayucos to see if there was anything available. Sadly for us there was only this place. The first room we were given was right on the road and a bathroom with... More

We called days ahead and reserved a room for two nights. After driving hundreds of miles, we arrived to find out that the manager had only reserved one night for us thus leaving us completely stranded for the second night of our long awaited vacation (everything else in town was completely booked due to a car show). The manager unapologeticly... More
