The unexpected charges of $20.00 after we checked out - probably would have charged more had I not warned my credit card company. They scan your credit card to keep on file, by the way! Outrageous prices for a dumpy motel - $220 for one night/queen size bed. I've stayed at better hotels for less than that. Not even coffee... More

TERRIBLE experience. We were evicted from our room at 9:30PM because we had our dog sleeping comfortably in our RV in the parking lot. Our baby was sleeping in the room and the heartless manager/owner made us wake him up to leave immediately because he said there were no dogs allowed. We knew this was not a pet friendly hotel,... We hit Carpinteria on Independence Day weekend without reservations - big mistake, and we knew it, but that was the nature of our trip. We found Sandyland Reef a little by accident, but we (me and my girlfriend, who generally despises independent and budget motels) decided it looked fine. It was a little pricey, but still at least a hundred... More

As it was the last time, the motel was clean and quiet. No amemities to speak of, but it was the lowest priced budget motel around. Make sure to request a room in the rear of the building as the front units face the 101 freeway.

The prices of places to stay in the Santa Barbara area are exorbitant. This motel offers a modest place to stay; best if you are out and about, and don't need to hang about in the room. The bed was comfortable; the room appeared to be very clean, and despite its location near 101, it was amazingly quiet. Management is... More

Just about what is to be expected from a true budget hotel. The room was clean, the shower worked fine, and I got a good night;s sleep. No amenities to speak of, but it was the cheapest non-fleabag motel around.

Upon entry the hotel room seemed clean enough; It actually looked better on the inside of the hotel than the outside. Once we were settled, I decided to hop in the shower. There was no hot water. I waited and waited for the water to heat up. It was tepid at best. As i climbed in the freezing shower, I... More

Last month a friend and I drove down Route 1 and needed to stop for the night. After checking a few places, this inn seemed adequate and economical for one night. The check-in process seemed long and tedious. The room at first looked ok, the tv and internet worked fine. But the first sign of problems was a steady stream... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

I have stayed the past three years for three nights each August. Clean rooms with very firm and comfortable beds. Flat screen television. Bathrooms are full width at back of room with opening outside window . . . and a tiled shower with a showerhead high enough for a six foot person to wash their hair without having to kneel... More

Good for one night only, arrived late and left early. No-frills place, rooms and bathroom were clean,. We had to pay $ 170 USD for a night, wayy too much for a place like this one. Half of paid price would be acceptable, however we had no choice. To be fair, overall experience was ok, but wouldn't stay for longer.... More
