We camped during "winter". Let's not kid ourselves. We're in Southern California, there is no winter. The camp grounds were clean and best of all, not crowded. You are literally right next to the beach. The camp ground runs parallel to the shore so your site is never too far from water. There are trains that run along the opposite... More

Wow....we heard the full hook up sites in the Santa Rosa loop were close together, but never could of imagined how bad it would be. Worse than the parking lot at your local CVS - you could reach out and touch your neighbor. Vertical sites, not even angled -I don't think our push out on our 20 foot trailer would... More

Beware of putting up your tent at this "campground." You will have absolutely no space, the tent sites are all cramped along the road on a thin strip of dirt. You are right next to your neighbor and there is a sidewalk right behind the strip of dirt that they call "tent" sites. Also, the train tracks are right behind... More

Check in is mostly easy. The volunteers are really nice and helpful. Pulling a trailer into some of these spots is literally a group effort! We pulled a 32' fifth wheel and barely made it in the spot. I have no idea how anyone bigger than use could back in easily. Reserving on the website is pretty ridiculous and almost... More

Came here as were visiting Santa Barbara and its only 20min down the road from there. Its directly on the beach and a walk away from the shops & cafes. However, overall the campground was a let down, very overpriced for sites without hook ups. The spaces are so cramped up, you couldn't even park your truck next to you,... More

After having spent 2 weeks in national parks' campgrounds, we were disappointed by this state beach camping. While the location is really really nice (2 minutes away from the beautiful beach and quite close to Santa Barbara by car), we can complain about almost everything else : the camp was packed with groups/families that were noisy until at least midnight... Camped here with my 2 children. The location was great - right next to the beach. Beach was fab as well. Was very disappointed with the toilet and shower facilities. They needed a good clean and were more like public toilets than campsite toilets. Quite disgusting. Camp pitches were quite tightly packed (assume because it is quite close to Santa... More

This was our 3rd and final trip to Carpinteria SB. While we love love love the location. Easily accessible beach from all campsites and they have always been a bit lacking in the beauty of the campsite but now, it is terribly dirty. We always travel with a group as a mini family reunion. This year we opted for a... More

We camped here one night on our way up the coast. They really cram the people in here and the sites are so close you can hear your neighbors conversations. It is not very private, especially for tent camping. All was quiet at night after 10 pm. The beach is so close you can hear the waves, which is the... More

Let's start with the pros, since this will be quick: it's by the beach. Ok, now the cons: The place is ridiculously overpriced, starting at $45 a night for a tent, which is twice (yes, TWICE) as much as most camp grounds in much more beautiful and exciting parts of California, like San Francisco, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, etc. For...
