We stayed here for 2 nights in August to escape Monterey which was cold and bleak, a few miles up the road we entered Carmel Valley to brilliant blue sky and heat! On arrival the owner and manager could not have been more obliging in a non pushy way. I would agree with other reviews that the accommodation is basic,... more

This hotel was great, they did serve complimentary breakfast and the lady working the kitchen was super friendly and always smiling. The room was basic but there is a park across the street that was great for my dog. The beach is about 15 minutes away and there are walking/ hiking trails very close by. more

We stayed two nights at this lodge, After viewing it's website. it appeared spacious and cofortable. It was clean but very outdated, decor was similar to a home I had in the 80's...Bed was OK, but sleeper sofa was very uncomfortable, carpets, stained - Overall drab. and dated Complimentary breakfast was OK, but nothing special - like the rest of... more

My wife and I booked here last minute and ended up having a really lovely stay. The rooms are super basic, but were clean and roomy. We stayed in a fireplace room (more of a fire stove really), which came prepped for lighting - it took one match to get it going - and with a bag of smores materials... more

What a splendid place!. The gardens are beautiful, the area peaceful and the location whtin walking diatance of most everything in the village. Right across from a countypark, where we and our dogs met several nice people, also with dogs. The complimentary breakfast is available inside a conference room just a short walk from all the other rooms.Breakfast can also... more

We stayed at the Carmel Valley Lodge for 3 nights in March 2008. Our room was spacious with 2 queen beds and a small patio. Decor a little dated, not luxurious, but everything was extremely clean and and comfortable. Coffe maker, hair dryer in the room. The surrounding gardens are spacious with lots of trees and flowers. There is a... more

To say this place is run down is a huge understatement. I room looked like something out of a 1960's TV show. The pool and spa was broken, the exercise room was a joke, and the breakfest was old cereal and hard bread. The staff who cleaned the room only made the bed, nothing else. The place is in worse... more

1. As others have mentioned, there is a $25 service fee added to the bill no matter what. I booked the room through Hotwire, which normally takes care of all taxes and fees, and still got a separate charge on checkout of $25. This was after I left a nice tip for the cleaning staff in the room. This is... more

We've been here twice and loved it both times. This time we were lucky enough to have a cottage with a fireplace. Part of the charm is the real wood fireplace ready for you to light with the s'mores kit waiting for you by the side. The other part of the charm is how dog friendly this property is! You... more

The accommodations were dirty, loud, poorly kept, and uncomfortable! The LACK of AC made it very stuffy and hot, and the carpets had obviously not been vacuumed recently. Mattresses had protruding springs, internet did not work in the rooms, and staff was not helpful. For $100 less each night, we changed to a much, much nicer hotel down the road.... more
