My partner and I were traveling to visit Carmel/Monterey CA. Hotels were ridiculously expensive near Carme-By-The-Sea, so we explored Carmel Valley. (It's about a 20 minute beautiful drive to the ocean). This hotel was recently purchased by an owner who intends to transform it into a Wellness Center. It's off to a good start. Beautiful location. Comfortable/ quiet rooms. Affordable... More

The receptionist was very rude, not acknowledging us when we arrived and staying on the phone for over 15 minutes without checking us in. The first floor rooms are low-ceilinged, and should cost much less than the second-floor rooms, but they don't. We were told that the second floor rooms were "much nicer" but that people who booked earlier were... More

A very nice stay in Carmel Valley. Nice hotel and generous rooms. Bathrooms need an update and room was dirty when we checked in. I thought that was the standard but the next day the room was spotless so they must have forgotten to clean the room prior to check in. I`d stay here again. Eat breakfast elsewhere as the... More

The Carmel Valley Lodge has recently changed hands with the new owners placing a different emphasis on serving guests. One example is that they serve an absolutely delicious Vegan high protein breakfast instead of the usual waffles or biscuits. My room had two beds only rather than the normal arrangement of two beds in one room, this offered a second... More

My husband and I stayed one night. We stayed due a discount site and didn't know what to expect with the iffy reviews. The lobby area is very quaint and relaxing and the front desk service was good. Upon walking to the room though you had to step around huge piles of wrecking materials. The room itself was very nice... More

I made a reservation for two nights after reading the reviews, which painted a picture of a calm and relaxing retreat in the Carmel Valley. On arrival, the desk staff checked with another person to make sure the room was OK and sent me back to the room. The balcony access to the room was piled high with boards that... More

My wife and I were due to stay for two nights as part of our trip down the coast. When we checked in on the first night the hotel only had us down for a one night stay. We spent a while trying to contact the travel company in the UK so that they could sort things out but the... More

CVL Devotees- We have stayed here many times, but over Labor Day (one night) will be the last. CVL was taken over by a new owner and everything has gone downhill... Flowers were dying, tablecloths and the carpet at breakfast were dirty, and there was no wood/no smores in our room as before. BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST was seeing the... More

I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked this hotel given the mixed reviews, but we had a lovely stay. The pool was warm, the hot tub was nice and open late so long as guests weren't noisy. The location was amazing. We could see the Milky Way and felt peacefully away from all the city cares, but were... More

Stayed here a wedding weekend in which our family rented out almost the entire lodge. The lodge was so accommodating to our group. The pool area was great. They allowed us to set up a family bbq there without any issues. The front desk was so helpful and sweet. They went out of their way on multiple occasions to make... More
