We stayed here for 2 nights, it is a pleasant hotel. The pool is nice, perhaps a bit shaded but clean all the same. Rooms are a nice size, you get breakfast delivered to your room in the morn along with paper. it's kind of quaint! You can pay a small extra fee for a fireplace in your room, we... more

My friends and I stayed here for a "girlfriends' getaway". We had a difficult time finding a place that would accommodate us and didn't have high expectations for the Dolphin Inn. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. We wanted the family suite for the whole time, but it was not available on the first night of our 4 night stay.... more

Great location within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the fireplace in the room was nice. They also gave us a bottle of wine as my Mom had told them that it was my birthday when she was reserving the room by phone, nice touch that we really... more

This is a quaint place and in a great location. We loved the fireplace and really appreciated the shower water pressure. My only negative comment would be the bed. While it's not horrible, the simple act of my husband turning over would cause me to wake up. The next morning, I asked for a roll away bed and got one... more

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to ocean street/beach and they boasted a heated pool, which my children were excited to use. Unfortunately, it was so cold...my 8 & 10 year old did not want to get in! Floors creaked, and sink plugged up. However, Nice cont. breakfast delivered to our room. Good location. more

Thank you for choosing the Dolphin Inn for your recent visit to Carmel. We looked into the temperature of the swimming pool and found that it was, in fact, set too low. Unfortunately, because this was not brought to our attention until now, we were unable to correct the problem during your stay. In reference to the other issues you...

The Dolphin Inn was a very nice experience during our brief stay in Carmel-on-the-Sea. Free coffee and fresh-baked cookies in the reception set the tone, and the friendly and helpful receptionist kept us happy. The only downside was a slightly wobbly, if very comfortable, bed. more

The Carmel tourist bureau booked this room for us as we were having trouble finding any available rooms for the weekend at hand ("I don't know why, must be something up," said the woman - odd since it turned out to be the Pebble Beach Cours d'Elegance Car show and I would think the Carmel tourism bureau would be aware... more

The hotel was good. It is definitely dated, but it was very clean. Worst attribute: The room had a faintly musty odor of an older property that has enjoyed the ocean moisture for some time, but that didn't take away from the positives: quiet, fireplace, clean/warm pool, continental breakfast, daily newspapers, pleasant/courteous/informative staff, very clean, in walking distance to downtown/beach/mission,... more

Stayed in the Dolphin when travelling down the coast from San Francisco to LA for one night (thankfully). The stay here was booked as a last minute change of plan, and as I hadn't had much chance to research well, was wary anyway. My first impression was dark, dingy and smelly and sparse! Awful! On closer inspection, the bedsheets were... more

I stopped in Carmel on a week long drive from San Diego to San Francisco. The Dolphin Inn is a perfect place to stay for a night or two. Reasonable rates, (though I was there in the off-season) nice room, and a great breakfast service. They leave a basket of fruit, baked goods, milk, cereal, and OJ outside your door... more
