15 years ago, we were newly-weds on our honeymoon - blown-away by the service, charm and quality of a little B&B called Sunset House. When I called and found that Sunset House was part of Lamp Lighter, I doubted we could have the same caliber of experience that had stayed with us all these years -- Actually, like the wines... We originally had a room booked at their sister hotel, Cypress Inn, but found this hotel on TA and decided to stay here based on the price and TA reviews and I am glad we did. The hotel is perfectly located a few blocks up the hill from the beach and a few blocks down the hill from town. I... More

My mother and I had a wonderful stay in the Sea Lion room. The room had the most spectacular peek of the ocean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the fireplace was quite quaint. Convenient location, close to town and close to the gorgeous beach. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Overall a perfect choice for a stay in Carmel,... More

This hotel was adorable and the service hands down. My boyfriend mistakenly booked for the wrong day and didn't realize until the inn called to confirm our reservation the day of. The inn was able to accommodate us and make the change at no cost to us. Complimentary wine and cheese every day at happy hour! Tons of patio space... More

We stayed here one night on a trip down hwy 1. Wish we could have stayed longer. Very clean rooms but a bit small. Breakfast was served in the charming courtyard. Friendly staff , dog friendly. A great place to spend a few days or live forever!

We spent three nights in the Blue Bird cottage. The layout was perfect for our family of four. Our two teenagers stayed in the upstairs loft area which was perfect for them. It is completely closed off from the downstairs area so everybody had their privacy. The inn is charming and the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting... More

Thank you for the recommendation. The Blue Bird cottage is perfect for groups. We're happy it could accommodate your family comfortably. Many folks are drawn to our place because of the quaint style and perfect location. Unfortunately, with a quaint cottage comes sometimes finicky plumbing. Also, being located midway between downtown and the beach, the inn gets quite a few... More

I've stayed here twice over the last year. The location is right in downtown Carmel with an easy walk up to the shops and down to the beach. The service is friendly, and there's a courtyard continental breakfast included in the mornings. I think they do wine tasting happy hour too. We've stayed in the Tree Top room both times,... More

Hi Lisa, Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. I'm sorry about the discomfort you experienced from the cold. I just made sure the Tree Top room has extra stand-alone heaters in the closet and I'll be sure to share that with guests when checking them into that room. I would suggest the Sea Otter room if... My wife and I have not had a real getaway for years. We wanted to return to our Favorite place, Carmel. Using the internet we decided to stay at The Lamp Lighter Inn. We were greeted by their host Melyssa and Shadow (the house cat). From that moment on we knew we had made the right choice. Our room was... More

My wife and I stayed at Lamp Lighter in March in the Sea Otter room. I would highly recommend this Inn. Our room had a wood burning fire place with a partial distant view of the ocean. The room was quiet and clean with some charm to it. The Inn is in downtown and within walking distance to everything there,... More

Thank you for the recommendation. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. The Sea Otter room is definitely an ideal room with the wood burning fire place and ocean view. We always appreciate feedback, both positive and negative. We'll look into the pillows situation and unfortunately we're limited on breakfast choices because we don't have access to a full kitchen. Thanks... More

We just finished a 3 day/2 night stay in Carmel at the Lamplighter Inn. It was a birthday celebration weekend with friends and it was perfect! The hospitality from beginning to end was friendly and inviting! We stayed in the Sea Otter room - exceptional! The partial ocean view and sound of the waves at night was magical. The location...
