We stayed in Carmel for one night in the Garret Loft at the Forest Lodge. Pros: - great room on top floor with lots of character - beautiful & modern bathroom - very comfortable and quiet for sleeping - right in the heart of Carmel and only a 10 min walk to the ocean - free wireless in the room... Arrived really late and found ourselves at the Lamplighter at Carmel. They had no more rooms but were able to offer us a loft at the Forest Lodge. And it was the best thing that happened to our trip. Thanks too to the wonderful staff for their great service and recommendations!

Having visited Carmel for 20 years, Forest Lodge/Lamplighter Inn is my new favorite. Bobby, Inge and the entire staff were so accommodating, attentive, personable and professional. We stayed in the Einstein Cottage and Garrett Loft which were completely enchanting. Both units were well appointed, warm and very comfortable. The street noise in the morning didn't bother me as the comfort... More

I wish Forest Lodge was listed under "B&Bs" in Carmel, maybe it would get more attention. Oh well, at least there will be room for me when I come back to Carmel (hopefully very, very soon). I called on a whim, trying to check into their sister property (and, admittedly, much closer to the ocean), Lamp Lighter Inn. The very... More

It is hard to rate anything excellent but this place comes close. We had a family reunion, four families with kids ranging from 4 to 19 yrs old. We didn't know what to expect, but from the moment we saw the place and openned the doors to our rooms, we all had the feeling that our stay was going to... More

We reserved the Dalia and the Garret Loft, and both were quaint and comfortable. The fireplace in the Dalia was really nice. There was a refrigerator, an ice maker, a coffee maker, coffee and creamers. On the one hand, the ice maker was a nice touch but it dropped ice loudly all night long; that is why ice makers are... We spent two nights in the Dali Suite, which we loved! We felt like we were staying in a small cottage in France! It was completely captivating. The main room is quite large with a beamed ceiling, beautiful wood floors and a gas fireplace with stone surround, hearth and mantle as well as a flat-screen TV. Also in the room... More

Check in: Most friendliest check-in I have ever experienced. Bobby was helpful and to our surprise asked us to come down fafter we were settled in our room for a tour of 17 mile dr. over to Monterey. He's an awesome tour guide! Room: Clean, no odors, bright, accessible to all stores and restaurant. Loved the patio outside, the trees,... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at this Inn after staying in Monterey for a few days. Carmel is a such a charming and beautiful place and this inn was as well. We came in the off season, so we were able to book the room at half price, which was awesome, AND it came with complimentary champagne. It also offers... More

My fiance and I stayed at the Forest Lodge Inn. It sits on top Ocean Ave. over looking downtown and the beach. Although there isn't room service at the Forest Lodge (after staying in Carmel MANY times, non of the Inn's and B&B's provide room service or breakfast. What little continental breakfast there is sometimes provided, they are muffins from... More
