If you're trying to do Carmel on a budget; don't. Either splurge for better digs or stay in nearby Monterey or Pacific Grove. Our room had a funny smell, the bed is ancient and the sheets threadbare. We stayed at Crystal Terrace on Sun, May 25 and paid only $118 per night. We had just paid about that same price for much lesser motels in Solvang and San Simeon and weren't expecting much - especially in an expensive town like Carmel. We were very pleasantly surprised!!
