We spent two nights in this lovely comfortable upmarket B&B. We had a large room overlooking the ocean - lovely to lie on the bed and watch fantastic sunsets. Good continental breakfast with complimentary refreshments available all day. A couple of minutes to the beach. Quite expensive by European standards but, after all, it is Carmel! more

We stayed 1 night while on our road trip down the coast. We got a special deal of $129. The room was very small, but clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable with nice linens. Hotel offers fresh cookies in afternoon, and a nice continental breakfast of danishes, fruit, yogurt and granola. Nicely landscaped property with a nice backyard terrace. It... more

Carmel is a favorite get-away location that my wife grew up with as a child. When we were dating she introduced to this halcyon location. Now that we have children, we also take them to this quaint little town. So it was no surprise that when my in-laws were deciding on a location for their 50th wedding anniversary location, they... more

Our stay was two evenings. The location is very good -- the walk to Scenic Road is one block; the walk to Ocean Avenue is probably 6-8 blocks -- but not strenuous if you stay on San Antonio. The walk up to the shops (from San Antonio) does contain a hill so please keep this in mind. We definitely took... more

This is a wonderful place to relax and unwind, not far from the beach. You can see and hear the ocean from anywhere on the property. It is a collection of small buildings, that look like cottages, with 4 rooms per building. The breakfast is served in a central building, around a beautiful fireplace. Lots of outdoor seating around the... more

Pluses: Close enough to walk into the quaint town and get to pass the cute English style homes; friendly and aim to please; continental breakfast; the most comfortable bed, like a five star hotel; two blocks from beach; fantastic gardens; ours was a roomy room; management is updating and keeps the place up; we had too much to choose from... more

We stayed here as the third stop on our drive down the PCH and stayed in Room 27. The room was quite small and did not have an ocean view, but was well-priced and the view was not necessary when the ocean itself was so close. The room was well used and a little too pink for my taste, but... more

My husband and i booked two nights at the Colonial Terrace in room #19. We walked into our room and almost started crying. The carpet is shabby, the bed had a queen headboard on a King size bed with a duvet cover that was from the 60's. It was hot and although we had 2 large windows , there wasn't... more

Thanks for your input. Naturally I'm surprised at the reaction of this guest. Literally thousands of guests have stayed with us this summer and have not had this sort of experience. I was particularly surprised to see the property described as being far from the village when so many guests look forward to the same leisurely stroll along the beach...

This was my first trip to Carmel for the weekend-get-away while visiting San Francisco. The hotel is nicely located within a residential neighborhood of Carmel and is only one block from the ocean. We stayed in the room facing the ocean though don't expect a direct view of the ocean. Tall cyprus trees line the streets but the ocean is... more
