This hotel is in great location with ample parking and is pet friendly. The staff was terrific. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, and the price is right. I was all ready to make this my "go to" hotel in Carmel, but...I must say that I could hear everything from the couple upstairs...and I mean everything.... More

We love the Carmel Lodge. It's quiet and clean. It gives you the Carmel feel at a great value. Each room has its own character. We always book a room with a fireplace. The lodge is a short walk to Ocean Ave. and shopping. Great staff with a free breakfast!

Everyone at the Carmel Lodge from the front desk to housekeeping were very friendly, helpful, and cordial. We plan to stay there again and recommend it to friends. Property is a bit outdated, but the cleanliness, friendliness and continental breakfast delivered to our door more than made up for that.

Great locale- friendly staff who actually care about you, rooms are basic but you should be outside when you are in Carmel! Value is good too- if they are sold out online call them- you still might be able to make your stay work. I'll be back!

Its a great hotel that my wife and I love. Our stays are always pleasant. The staff is helpful and the location of the hotel is perfect distance away from the foot traffic of a busy weekend crowd. Great place. Worth a try.

Rooms were a little dated, and there is no fridge? But the position is great, it's near the central areas of Carmel, parking is easy and we would stay there again. It also has a pool but it was as empty whilst we we're there, so I guess it would be full in summer?

Asked for a ground floor room, knee problems, and my wife and I were placed on the second floor. Room was clean, but needed upgrading. Check in was pleasant, and efficient. Continental breakfast was on time, but nothing to write home about. Price was good, for Carmel, and it's location is its best asset.

Dear Masuoslo, Thank you for your review and I'm very sorry that you didn't get your ground floor. We make every effort to accommodate our guests' needs, but we do have a limited number of groundfloor rooms and we allocate them on a first come, first served basis. We hope you'll try us again and we'll be able to accommodate... More

Me and my party stayed here overnight and to start off what a great location considering the popular Ocean Ave is just two blocks away. Upon checking in the woman who help us was very friendly and made us feel like we mattered. The lobby area was a bit small but it was very clean and it felt first class.... More

Dear dwsaturn, Thank you so much for taking time to write such a thoughtful, articulate review of Carmel Lodge. I'm happy you got to stay in one of our balcony rooms -- they are some of our most popular rooms due to the reasonable price and extra outdoor space. But you're right -- the bathrooms are small! And parking is... More

Carmel is a unique place to visit. They have maintained the old style of buildings and lodging, so if you like new--you won't like Carmel. The Carmel lodge is clean, perfectly located at the upper end of town, cheap compared to Carmel's normal rates, and the beds are very comfortable. Beds are a deal breaker for me. We will be... More

Thanks, Heidi G, for your lovely, thoughtful review. You are absolutely right about Carmel, and you highlighted our attributes nicely. We get lots of compliments about our comfy beds. BTW, I always travel with ear plugs, too! It will be nice to see you again -- try to come back soon (the weather's still amazing!). Stephanie More

Just got back from a two day stay in Carmel. Beautiful weather and great food. We have been coming to the Carmel Lodge for a few years now due to the location of the place. Just a few blocks up from Ocean Avenue. We have always got the room with the fireplace. Love it but we were really hoping that... More

Hi, Emma104! Well, I know exactly which room you stayed in -- we only have one room with peeling paint in the bathroom. That's a by-product of living in a small town where there's one good painter, one good electrician, one good plasterer (but I wouldn't give up the small town for anything). Our plasterer has been super-busy lately, but... More
