Asked for a ground floor room, knee problems, and my wife and I were placed on the second floor. Room was clean, but needed upgrading. Check in was pleasant, and efficient. Continental breakfast was on time, but nothing to write home about. Price was good, for Carmel, and it's location is its best asset.

Me and my party stayed here overnight and to start off what a great location considering the popular Ocean Ave is just two blocks away. Upon checking in the woman who help us was very friendly and made us feel like we mattered. The lobby area was a bit small but it was very clean and it felt first class.... More

Carmel is a unique place to visit. They have maintained the old style of buildings and lodging, so if you like new--you won't like Carmel. The Carmel lodge is clean, perfectly located at the upper end of town, cheap compared to Carmel's normal rates, and the beds are very comfortable. Beds are a deal breaker for me. We will be... More

Thanks, Heidi G, for your lovely, thoughtful review. You are absolutely right about Carmel, and you highlighted our attributes nicely. We get lots of compliments about our comfy beds. BTW, I always travel with ear plugs, too! It will be nice to see you again -- try to come back soon (the weather's still amazing!). Stephanie More

Just got back from a two day stay in Carmel. Beautiful weather and great food. We have been coming to the Carmel Lodge for a few years now due to the location of the place. Just a few blocks up from Ocean Avenue. We have always got the room with the fireplace. Love it but we were really hoping that... More

Hi, Emma104! Well, I know exactly which room you stayed in -- we only have one room with peeling paint in the bathroom. That's a by-product of living in a small town where there's one good painter, one good electrician, one good plasterer (but I wouldn't give up the small town for anything). Our plasterer has been super-busy lately, but... More

Not luxury but clean and well located. We had a good night's sleep, the continental breakfast delivered to the room was adequate. The room was dated but well maintained. Hotel does not have air conditioning which was not needed when we were there.

We were travelling down the PCH and decided to stop in Carmel for a night, we quickly found that all hotels in the area were pricey! We chose Carmel Lodge, lovely little place in a great location, a little dated but very clean. Reception staff were wonderful and we had a continental breakfast brought to the room in the morning.... This is an older hotel. We had a room upstairs with a little balcony. The room was small, but had everything we needed. The bathroom was small with a very small shower stall, however, clean and updated fixtures. The TV was in the cabinet, it was not a flat screen TV. The shelf it was sitting on, was a little... More

Hi Carmen G! Thanks for taking time to write a nice review for us. I'm glad you pointed out our balcony rooms, which are favorites with lots of travelers. It's nice to be able to enjoy your breakfast on the balcony. Hope to see you again! More

The staff are the best thing about Carmel Lodge, they are friendly and helpful, but unfortunately that can"t hide the fact that the rooms, and particularly the bathrooms, are in need of updating. My room was a reasonable size with a balcony, but the carpets and furnishings were starting to look a bit shabby and the bathroom had definitely seen... More

There are lots of old, charming/quaint properties in Carmel, but this isn't one of them. First the good things: very comfortable bed, amazing staff, very fast free Wifi and fantastic location. The bathroom was a joke. Tiny space, tiny sink, tiny toilet even, and the shower was....tiny with the shower head below chin height for me at 6'. They need... More

Thanks, Dan, for taking time to write a review of Carmel Lodge. The new owners have been working hard for the past year to make improvements that guests will appreciate -- new carpet in all the rooms, new interior and exterior paint, some new furniture -- and behind-the-scenes improvments to things like roofing, etc. The pool has been closed for... This is a cozy hotel that offers all you can need. It was clean and comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was a little small but Ok. The location was very good but you do need a car in carmel. I will be back.
