This is a very old hotel that they have tried to update but failed. Wall to wall furniture that gives you an enclosed feeling. Very small shower. Could hardly move. Paper thin walls. The one good thing they had was every morning they would leave a basket full of goodies. It was a nice touch.

My wife and I planned a trip to Carmel for her birthday but she injured her back the night before we were to go. Unable to sit in a car for the 3 hour drive we called the hotel to cancel. We were told that we would be charged in spite of the situation. Being a Hotel manager for the... More

First the good - water pressure in the shower was the best I've ever seen in a hotel, bed was so comfy I wanted to take it home with me, quiet room even though in a busy location, wonderful staff, great price for the area. The drawbacks are the parking lot is small and on a slant so be careful... More

This is an old, bedraggled hotel in the Carmel Valley. The community is lovely; the hotel worn and ill-maintained. The breakfast a basket of a wrapped pastry, a box of cereal, and a carton of milk. Not exactly epicurean. You can walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping areas. Next time, we'll stay at the Embassy Suites in Monterrey and... More

We only spent one night here but we were very impressed. The young man (Ash) at the front desk was so nice, he made us feel like family. We found a sweet basket at our door the next morning with juice, cereal, milk, sweets. We would stay here again, if in the area.

We needed a place to stay on Friday night of Memorial Weekend. The Clarion accepted a one night stay instead of the usual two nights on a Holiday weekend and their price was reasonable considering the situation. We had an upstairs corner room that was spacious and clean. This isn't a romantic getaway accommodation but certainly a good value. You can... More

This is located very well in the midst of restaurants and shops. Even on the same street as out favorite lunch place Patisserie Boissonniere. Bed is comfortable, room clean and the breakfast basket worked out well. Not the most luxurious but good for the price.

About half of my 10 day trip to CA was spent in a few different hotels along the coast, the Clarion being my final, and after quite the exciting, white-knuckle drive in the dark along the cliffs of Big Sur, I finally happened upon my booked-online, sight unseen 'home' for the evening. And, when I opened the door (after the... More

We stayed here last year. It's a decent place to lay your head. I was disappointed our room basically seemed run down. The bathroom was clean, but very tiny. And there were gnats or fruit flies all over. Every time we swatted one, a few minutes later we noticed another. Within the two hours we spent in the room before... More
