CONS: There was no parking available. The breakfast area was cramped and jammed up into the lobby. The bathrooms were small with painted-over grime. We could hear everything in the adjacent room through the walls. PROS: The bed was clean and comfortable. The Wi-fi was good. Conclusion: Always do your homework on Trip Advisor before reserving a room somewhere.

On our recent spur of the moment stay, the very capable front office representative - Lisa, helped us co-ordinate our hotel stay between the Briarwood Inn and the Fireside Inn. Despite the fact that we arrived in Carmel without prior reservations during the month of August, she assisted us in finding available rooms that would accommodate our needs! She even... More

We stayed this past weekend in room 41 with my husband, grown son and teenage son. The place is located conveniently next to the other inns and is an easy 5 minute walk to Oceanside shops and restaurants. The inn looks just like the outside pictures that management posted, it's quite nice.Nice staff. There is parking for each guest. The room... More

Our room was perfect! Quaint, romantic and cozy. I wish our fireplace would light, but that's okay! Everything was within walking distance and we were able to bring our dog everywhere we went! Thanks, Briarwood! We'll definitely be back!

The Briarwood Inn is a charming place to spend a few days in Carmel, and usually I'd rate this place a 5. But this last time, while the accommodations were as good as always, one of the staff really turned us off. She was a middle aged woman with longish blonde hair. We came down for breakfast about 5 minutes... More

The staff is nice. It is cheap. Location is good (not too noisy). Other than that, I really can not say anything all that nice. The room was dirty. I moved a couch and found remnants of previous guests' feastings. Yuck. The bed linens are not so wonderful, and the bed mattress itself is long past its sell-by date. The... More

We used Living Social vouchers, which included either a queen or king room. I asked for king, but we were in room 41 with two queens which ended up being just fine. The room was large, lots of windows, and easy access. We were able to park on the property and walked everywhere. The location was close to restaurants and... More

My husband and I took a quick 3 day trip to Carmel (luckily we live only 2 hours away!) and our timing was perfect. Best weather I have ever seen there and I have lived in and around the area 40 years! Even if it was the usual Carmel fog and cold we would have liked our room, and then... More

We stayed for several days. The rooms are clean and airy, beautifully decorated. Continental breakfasts were the best I've ever had. Exceptionally quaint! Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Dog friendly, but no tell-tale odors. The yard and flowers were nice. I was very happy and content with our stay. Thank you so much for all of your... More

Our room was spacious and CLEAN! The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our morning breakfast of tasty pastries and fresh, sweet fruit. We were a short, pleasant walk from charming downtown Carmel, fine dining and art galleries galore and a brisk walk from the beautiful beach. And the weather was perfect! We plan to stay at the Briarwood Inn... More
