We had one of the smallest rooms which was also one of the cheapest, but for two nights it was perfect and plenty big enough. Tiny shower room but we're not big people so that was okay, lovely fluffy towels and plenty of them. Delicious coffee in room and rate included breakfast which we had on the terrace (but you... I was on my way to Los Angeles from San Francisco and was hoping to find a stopover spot that had something special, even though I wasn't sure what "special" meant, exactly. I had done a little lazy, half-baked research, but was feeling that everything looked the same and decided to just get in the car and drive, hoping that... More

Stayed in Rm 4A around the back. Very private and quiet. Liked the clean rooms and the friendly service. The wine and cheese from 5-6pm every day was a great way to wind down the day and start the night off right! Breakfast was super, especially the pastries made by the best local pastry chef! The restaurant recommendations were all... More

At the Vagabond's House, a quaint courtyard inn a couple of blocks off the main drag in art-gallery saturated Carmel, breakfast isn't served around a big communal table. It's brought to your private room on a tray. So the place is perfect for runaway couples, people in witness protection and celebrities wanting to go incognito. You don't have to rub... More

We absolutely loved the Vagabond's House! Upon arrival we loved the cozy entryway with the waterflowing & the beautiful landscaping. Once inside the office the older gentleman that greeted us wasn't exactly warm & friendly, but we didn't care. Once we saw our absolutely beautiful, cozy room we thought we were in heaven! The fireplace & breakfast in the morning... More

Enchanting, quaint English cottage in the heart of Carmel. My husband and 27 year old son and I stayed in room #5 which was very large and room for three. Room had king size bed and twin both of which were very comfortable. Room also had hardwood floor and gas log fireplace. Our stay was over Labor Day weekend which,... More

My husband and I just completed our 20th annual Carmel vacation and we couldn't have had a more perfect stay. During the past 20 years we have stayed at the Vagabond House 15 times. We have tried other inns and hotels but none compare to our special place, the Vagabond House. From the moment we arrived we were met by... More

My wife and I fell in love with this hotel. You can really tell that they put a lot of effort into keeping their guests happy and maintaining the property. When we checked in; we were greeted with wine and cheese, given a tour of the room by the manager and placed our breakfast order for the following morning. The... More

Not only is this place beautiful and cozy down to every last detail, but the staff, headed by the inn's manager, provides nothing short of exquisite hospitality with personable attentiveness and no pretension whatsoever. Every special request was graciously provided for and you get the feeling that the Vagabond House Inn is the last of a dying breed of hospitality... More

My husband and I came here from New York City to get a breath of fresh air and this is exactly what we got. This timeless inn welcomed us just the way we hoped to be and some. The detail in the rooms was something from a novel. Adorable and highly recommend!
