We recently stayed for a night at Svendsgaard's Inn in Carmel. The inn is a motel complete with pool. The rooms could use some updating but were clean and comfortable. In the morning, the hotel leaves and adorable cooler packed with continental breakfast including breakfast break, a pastry, yogurts, fruit, milk, cereal, and OJ. That was a really nice touch... more

Svendsgaard's Inn is a lovely place to stay. The desk clerk was very friendly and willing to help out with directions, amenities, etc. The grounds of the hotel are very pretty, lots of flowers and a large grass area on the first level. Dog had amenties too - scoop bags and bowls of water. He enjoyed it as much as... more

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of our room. Good location, helpful staff, comfortable room, hard to go wrong with this place if you want a good deal. The really stand out feature was the big whirlpool tub, spring for the tub if you can. more

My boyfriend booked us a weekend stay here for our anniversary. He got the "Romance Package" which is extra money for a bottle of champagne, a box of truffles and a "gift certificate" to one of 4 restaurants in town. What he wasn't told was that you PAY OVER THE SAME AMOUNT for the "gift certificate", plus extra for the... more

Dear Tripadvisor Readers: This guest’s posting is the result of a rate dispute, which was ultimately settled to the guest’s satisfaction. The facts of this dispute show that the guest agreed to a package rate by telephone, booked the reservation, and was sent a confirmation displaying the total rate for the package. Upon arrival, the guest disputed a portion of...

My teen-age girls, our dog and I stayed at the Svendsgaard's Inn for a quick getaway in Carmel. We unpacked our things in our suite and then discovered the lock on our door was broken. The front desk staff person changed us to two rooms for the same price and we moved our stuff to the new rooms. Later that... more

My husband and I stayed two nights in this B&B...overall it was an okay place to stay. The bed was comfortable, the fireplace was cozy and the delivered breakfast in the morning was a nice touch. However, our breakfast was stale on one of the two mornings and our room smelled like sewage anytime the water was running...it might have... more

Booked this hotel and then saw some reviews and was worried. Boy were they wrong! This hotel was wonderful. The staff was extremely helpful, the cookies were great and the little breakfast that arrived each morning was nice. This place is located close to everything you want to see in Carmel. It is a block and a half from the... more

The rooms are very basic. The walls are thin and you can hear every thing from the room next door, especially when you’re trying to sleep. Carmel is expensive so I did not have a problem with price. We had made our reservation over the phone directly with Inns by the Sea. Their web site showed a AAA discount and... more

Just returned from a two-night stay here... we were placed in room #34 (a queen room). I was not expecting much after reading all the reviews posted here, but to my surprise the room and inn exceeded my expectations. All we cared about was close proximity to all the Ocean Avenue shops and a coffee maker in our room. Yes,... more

While I realise Carmel is an expensive place to stay, Svendsgaard's Inn is poor value for money. I would recommend you don't stay there. We had a dark room, with tatty fittings, broken furniture and stained bedding. Very thin walls between rooms made it very noisy. An electric socket was broken, as were two windows and the main light was... more
