Once again we took our annual work trip and stayed at the Pine Inn and once again John and his staff were spot on. It has been a pleasure staying at the Pine Inn for over 10 years without even a so so experience. John and his staff always go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome.

Like all historic properties, it's important to understand that most rooms (and baths) are small and amenities are sometimes limited. Our room was fine, but cramped and no windows on the screens could be remedied. Also our room faced the main street and was noisy till about 11. We booked a month in advance online. We saw nothing that mentioned... More

My wife and I stayed here in July 2015. It has a great location in the heart of the bustling shopping area of Carmel--walking distance to most everything including the beach. It has an aged elegance and some small quirkiness--like the slanted floors and doorways due to building settling in the back half of the hotel. But it was clean,... More

We spent a night at the Pine Inn last week and had a very pleasant stay. We had never stayed here before so had no comparison with what it used to be. We were able to park in the lot, but we noticed that finding the main office from there was a little tricky, and others guests were also having... More

This was a lovely hotel full of character. Our suite was very roomy, although I found the bed uncomfortable. The restaurant was excellent. There is car parking but on a first come first served basis. It is a few blocks from the beach, but I hadn't realised that the currents in carmel bay are too strong for swimming. The hotel... More

"The Pine" was 'the' place to go before a corporation took it over;during the 20 years we lived in Carmel the bar was ' a must'; people came from all over the world to talk to Oscar the bartender, renowned for his fabulous concoctions. Celebrities, politicians, movie stars and locals kept this a lively, entertaining place. After the 'redesign' the... More

Nice room and bed. Good location and nice staff. The towels were really old and it felt like the hotel had been using them for decades. We had towel fluff all over our bodies when we were done. Apart from that everything was good. A bit expensive though, but that's the case in Carmel. The city it self is really... More

Just had 3 days of vacation with my family at the hotel in carmel The 4 of us stayed at a room with two large beds - good enough for us. The room itself was a little old, w/o air condition but large like a standard suite.. You can feel this is an old hotel - it has charm and... More

Older but charming property in the heart of downtown Carmel. Despite its age, room was in good nick, bathroom was modern, the amenities were all there and the view was pleasing. Fourth floor with no elevator was good for several-times-daily cardio, no complaints. Lobby decorated in early bordello, staff was warm and helpful, property was professionally managed. Il Fornaio restaurant... More

This is not a hotel and cannot be measured against hotels. It was an Inn, minimal staff, small hutch to check in at, friendly staff, not overly helpful when it came to parking. Our initial introduction was that the car park was full, park on the street, try again later. A hotel perhaps someone would have taken the keys and... More
