This was our 2nd stay at the Sandpiper Inn. Both times Josh was very helpful in setting up our reservations and was a wealth of info as to where to eat, touring Big Sur, etc. This quaint inn has a very interesting history and sits in a residential area 1 block from the ocean. The surrounding homes are fascinating in... more

Hubby and I stayed here for a weekend in Room 6. The room was really small, but the view more than made up for it.The place is so quaint and charming, you half expect to see an English Countryside outside. The staff is friendly and chatty, the ambience is cosy and the general decor of the place is great. Its... more

You cannot beat the location of this quaint and friendly inn. It is in the most gorgeous area of residential Carmel. Many of the rooms have ocean views and you sleep to the sounds of the waves. There is a huge beach full of locals walking, visiting with each other, and frolicking with their dogs. People are responsible and respectful... more

We stayed in room #8. Unless I missed it, there is no mention of the amazing veiw from this room (on the Sandpiper website), and this was a great surprise. You can see Carmel bay from a huge window, and hear the ocean waves lull you to sleep all night. I would definitely stay here again. The location cannot be... more

The Sandpiper Inn is perfect for a couple wanting to be close to the water in Carmel and to have the Bed and Breakfast experience. It is easy to find and it was great to be greeted by Josh so warmly when we arrived. We loved the livingroom, access to the kitchen, menu basket and the very comfortable bedroom, with... more

The front desk manager was most helpful in planning outings, getting reservations for meals and tips for the best sightseeing. The owner was our hostess for breakfast and always had something delicious and was a gracious hostess being a transplant from Germany many, many years ago. The rooms are rather small, but it is so nice to be close (2... more

We spent two nights here - room 2. Very comfortable bed, adequate bathroom. No hairdryer but on asking was immediately issued with one. Quiet location, inviting living room with fire, lots of local info including lots of restaurants. Able to use fridge, freezer and make tea and coffee during the day. Would take c.15 mins to walk into centre of... more

We stayed in Room 15 for two nights in early August. The staff accommodated our late arrival (9:30 p.m.) on the first night of our visit, and provided helpful information about where to get a late night meal. Having been to Carmel only twice before (over 30 years ago), we found the Sandpiper a little difficult to find in the... more

This is not a hotel. I read some of the negative reviews and those travelers need to be staying at a place that can accomodate all their needs. This is a cozy, quiet, cottage atmosphere that is one block from Carmel beach. Compared to the price of other options this is a great deal. Decent breakfast and service in an... more
