Great location, very charming place - we got a nice welcome by the staff, Drake et al, cute rooms and decent breakfast It's not super expensive either considering the whole town is full of millionaires. Only thing is because it's pets friendly lots of people had dogs. Not an issue for us. Definitely recommend this place.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a very dog friendly town and the Cypress Inn is a wonderful place to stay with your furry companion. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Your pup can sit with you while you enjoy a meal in the lounge or outside on the patio. We loved that there was a dog at almost every table while we... More

We were in Carmel for a long weekend and the Cypress was recommended to us by a friend. The hotel is dog friendly. We did not bring our dog and although dogs were not an issue for us, we were hesitant to book thinking a dog friendly hotel might not be as clean. We were wrong. The hotel was quite... More

I found the Inn in Fodor's Guidebook, and it was everything they said. Very charming architecture and decor, with a sense of age and patina, tiles and gardens. It is a short walk from the beach, and close to all city centre amenities. The staff were outstanding, especially Randy, who helped me find another room for Labour Day weekend, and... More

Thank for staying with us recently and for the fantastic review! I love to see that you had such a great experience with the staff (except for when we had to find you another room)! The Cypress Inn team takes pride and ownership in being part of what we consider to be a Carmel institution and I hope you agree!... More

The Cypress Inn was a very welcome touch of class on the third leg of my North California adventure; after San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. The atmosphere, the location (for access to Route 1, although I wouldn't recommend Carmel itself unless you are looking for 'luxury' shopping), the food, the service - all was really great! I particularly loved... More

Melanie, Thank you for your review! It sounds like you experienced some great parts of California during your recent trip and we are thrilled that you included Cypress Inn in the mix. Your observation of us being popular with the locals was spot-on and something that we very much pride ourselves on...being able to appeal to both the out-of-town guest... More

We stayed at the Cypress Inn for over a week in June. It's a gracious old Spanish building that has been modernized in some areas. Our room was small but comfortable and pretty. A bottle of sherry is in each room, which is a nice touch. There are larger rooms and suites as well. I had a cold the first... More

If you are traveling with a dog this is the place to stay. They have dog biscuits at the front counter and you can eat breakfast and dinner on a lovely outdoor patio with your dog. Very nice staff. You can walk from there to a beautiful beach. Can't wait to go back.

We visited the Cypress Inn last weekend and were enchanted with the atmosphere and service. Dogs are welcome here and there are plenty of adorable ones around the lobby lounging on embroidered chaises. We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea service in the fireplace room. There were tomato-basil sandwiches, as well as cucumber and egg salad. The friandise and scones were... More

We've been frequent guests over the past 15 years with 3 stays within the last 12 months. Yes, we're old, nostalgic doggie lovers. The draw here is Doris Day and her animal foundation. If you missed that from the home page when you booked online, just look at the lobby decor when you arrive. If this is not the environment... More

The Cypress Inn is in a wonderful location, just a few short blocks from everything--shopping, wonderful restaurants and the beach. We stayed in room with a separate outside entrance and it was wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable, the bath and body products were delicious and the staff seemed to genuinely like their jobs. Crystal was so helpful with my... More
