My husband and I spent a very enjoyable 3 nights at the Capitola Hotel in mid-May of this year. We booked the Paradise Island room, which is on the ground floor and towards the back of the hotel. If you don't like a small room, I would suggest that you book Paradise Island as it is a medium size with... more

I was surfing in Capitola and wanted to stay for a few days longer to enjoy the great waves. Wanted to be next to the surf without having to drive to eat and sleep. The Capitola Hotel was right there. I could wake up in the morning, have coffee downstairs and walk across the street to the beach, surf and... more

I agree on the "Hotel from Hell". First of all the manager booked the room for me a month ago, however didn't write down a price. I was quoted $169/night but when I arrived, an unexperienced male desk clerk told me that it was going to be $198. He had to contact the manager and we did get it straightned... more

Tiny unfinished rooms on a noisy street (ear plugs provided near the phone in the room). Room had no clock for wake-ups nor wake up system within the phone system. No one from hotel management there after 9PM, for any reason! No viable ice machine. No parking at hotel. Permit for the street, if you can find parking at all.... more

This is a perfectly nice hotel on the surface, well located, clean, and with tasteful decor and comfortable beds. I write this review in part because this hotel has the potential to be nice, but there are several puzzling aspects of the rooms (or at least my room) that significantly compromised my enjoyment of the hotel and which are enough... more

The following is a lengthy review with as much detail as possible to give a complete picture and I have been very honest. My Husband & I were on a trip with friends, an American couple visiting different parts of America. Our friends had penciled in a 2 night stopover in Capitola, on Sunday 18th and Monday,19th November, for a... more

My husband and I just stayed at the Capitola Hotel this weekend and really enjoyed our time there. The rooms were clean, comfortable and I personally like the color scheme. I wasn't a big fan of the shower, but my 6'2" husband loved it. The shower heads were placed too high for shorter people (the angle the water hit me... more

We were on a tight timeline and could only stay one night in Capitola. After some searching we came upon the Capitola Hotel. We ended up reserving the Aruba room for one night. The rooms are small but immaculate. Very nice fixtures and fittings. Aruba is at the front of the property overlooking the street (The Esplanade), so you are... more

We were looking for an "upgrade" to the usual motel options in the Santa Cruz area. We tried out the Capitola Hotel, in the village of Capitola, and it turned out to be the perfect place for us. This is a great "boutique" hotel for couples and single friends. There are only 7 rooms and they are small; but very... more
