We only managed to book the smallest room in the ryokan but it has an amazing view. As we had been hiking from Magome, the traditional Japanese bath was a good welcome and helped us relax after a long day. Everyone in the ryokan is very friendly and helpful. Food here was very delicious and with each dish individually introduced.... More

It's not a mystery Fujioto is ranked n°1. I already wrote about Japanese hospitality and Fujioto certainly lives up to this reputation. They can be contacted directly and easily. Franco-San is fluent in English and Italian and is even learning Spanish. Any of the rooms is worth a stay!

I and my girlfriend travelled from Tokyo to Osaka over 2 weeks with various destinations in-between. Over the course of the trip, we had stayed at quite a few different Ryoken's and this one was by far the best. We stayed in Gora Tensui near Mt. Fuji, which is a very nice Ryokan and the most expensive we stayed at,... More

I was there last September during mu trip in Japan. It's worth to go there, few tourist and beatiful area. the Fujioto ryokan was very clean and peaceful. The quality of the food was amazing, the best that I had on my stay. The owner's wife is an excellent chef. The service is really high quality. A place to stay... More

We accidentally booked a room in an inn 300 miles away in a place called Tsumagoi - be ware. In short: incredible experience in this wonderful place. The staff thrive off of giving and explaining. Very clean, very homey, wonderful feeling you get from the place. In long: We lucked out and were able to book a room in Fujioto,... More

The ryokan is in the preserved town of Tsumago. It is a lovely place to visit. The rooms are traditional and therefore basic. Our room was large with a great view of the beautiful gardens on both sites. The dinner was excellent and gave us a good opportunity to taste the local food. I think this inclusion makes the stay... We were recommended the place by some friends who visited the ryokan last year. We have such good friends! The ryokan is in the middle of the town of Tsumago, but surrounded by japanese style gardens which give the whole place an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity and a bit of mistique. Our room was large and spacious and very... More

We stayed here having walked from Magome in late September. The hotel is set in the most beautiful post town of Tsumago which is a living museum and an example of how to preserve fantastic history. The royokan is beautiful from both it's gardens and it's wooden interior. Traditional rooms throughout with shared toilet and baths. This is part of... More

Our stay at Ryokan Fujioto was absolutely fantastic. The food, accommodation and staff were all brilliant. Having staff able to speak English was wonderful. We loved the explanations of each course at our meals. The food was beautifully fresh and sourced locally. I would recommend staying two nights rather than one so you have time to enjoy all the pretty... More

We have stayed at Fujioto and also did the magome tsumago trail. This place was just perfect, very frendly staff and owner and the dinner was just awsome. its a bit pricy for sure but believe us its worth every penny. the rooms are spacious and sleeping on a futon is really nice. The town of tsumago is really beutifull... More
