Our stay at Ryokan Fujioto was absolutely fantastic. The food, accommodation and staff were all brilliant. Having staff able to speak English was wonderful. We loved the explanations of each course at our meals. The food was beautifully fresh and sourced locally. I would recommend staying two nights rather than one so you have time to enjoy all the pretty... More

We have stayed at Fujioto and also did the magome tsumago trail. This place was just perfect, very frendly staff and owner and the dinner was just awsome. its a bit pricy for sure but believe us its worth every penny. the rooms are spacious and sleeping on a futon is really nice. The town of tsumago is really beutifull... More

We LOVED staying at this ryokan and missed the food here so much! It may seem a little pricey, but worth it. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and made sure that we had a very comfortable stay. I can't say enough about the food, it is excellent!!!

We enjoyed a faultless stay here. The food was good, owners friendly, good and helpful service and all in a setting from a by gone era. Worth staying here for the food. Each evening there was a multiple course banquet with unusual elements from bee larvae to a slow cooked fish which could be eaten head and all. Good explanations... More

We have been here this spring and we were astonished by the quality of the dinner made with local ingredients. The tempura made with seasonal vegetables was the most amazing I ever had. High praise to the owner's wife who is the chef and the tempura master of the region. She surely deserve the title. I think it was the... More

Staying at Fujioto was the best we could do in our trip in Japan. Franco is so friendly and his wife has traditional recipes for food that will make you regret not to stay longer. Rooms are spacious and quiet and Tsumago village is made of true beauty.

Position, Accomodation, Staff, Food...everything is perfect. the owner had lived in Italy for 20 years and received us as relatives. He personally served us a wonderful neverending dinner, explaining every dish, ingredients and how to eat them. The room was huge and clean, and really traditional, overviewing the garden.

We spent the night at this great ryokan after walking from magome. We enjoyed a lovely hot bath (onsen), put on our yukatas and settled down to enjoy an incredible ten course feast, which included all local specialities, including bee larvae! The meal was a highlight of our trip. The owner was very considerate and hospitable. We enjoyed a beer... More

Room - We enjoyed the luxury of the special guest room, which is highly recommandable. One living room and one bed room, seperated by the sliding doors, overlooking the garden. Attention is given to details, such as a photo made to remember our stay. Closing the curtains after dinner. And fresh tea and water multiple times a day. Location -... More

We had walked from Magome to Tsumago and were looking for somewhere to eat. Unlike Magome, we were struggling to find somewhere for a family lunch. There was a picture of food so we walked down the path and into a welcome in English. A quick look at the menu and we were seated beside a well needed fan. Once... More
