I visited this hotel along with my wife and daughter and found it to be much better than what I had expected. It is an ideal place to unwind and relax. I stayed in a junior suite with a double queen bed. The room size was quite large with an excellent view of the mountains from the balcony. The room heating was... more

This is one of the most beautiful hotels on earth. The architecture is amazing and feels very true to Bhutanese style and grace. The rooms are enormous with wonderful balconies with tremendous views. The grounds and outlying buildings are spectacular. Truly heaven on earth- hated to leave. more

The Zhiwa Ling hotel is not what you'd expect to find in Bhutan. Absolutely flawless in every respect...the service, the accommodations, and the staff were all top notch. The hotel is owned by Yangphel Adventure Travel, which is the travel company I used when in Bhutan. I've used travel companies in other parts of Asia, and Yangphel was head &... more

Zhiwa Ling is exactly what it says it is. A traditional Bhutanese hotel, with all the mod cons. From the gorgeous hand carved and painted wooden posts and railings, to the underfloor heating in the bathrooms, its just lovely. I think what sets Zhiwa Ling apart though is the staff. They are the friendliest and most attentive team we came... more

I read the previous reviews and I completely agree with the Hong Kong visitor from 10/8/2007 titled "A wonderful Haven of Luxury". We upgraded to this hotel at the end of our trip and we were in awe at the architecture, rooms and grounds. We were here 2 nights so we could hike up Tiger's Nest as our grand finale... more

The rooms are great - very large and super comfortable. It had a separate bathroom rather than the Aman-style open plan bathroom. The staff are helpful and friendly. However, the whole place lacked atmosphere. The advertised Bhutanese restaurent wasn't open yet, and it was disappointing to only have the option of European style food. The location is too remote to... more

I stayed three nights at Zhiwa Ling: my first two nights in Bhutan and my last. It's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting with all the modern conveniences, included HBO and heated slate floors in the bathrooms. It's very clean, and the staff is courteous and efficient. My only objections to Zhiwa Ling are that it's not close to... more
