Nak Sel actually means in Between the Forests. And as the name suggests the hotel is actually located in the middle of nowhere. As our car took the off beat route and started climbing a hill the driver told that we were heading to our hotel. Even after 10 mins of drive the hotel was nowhere to be seen and... More

Nak-Sel has breathtaking views, luxurious rooms and impeccable service. The food was fantastic as well. A perfect relaxing gateway was their in house menchu spa. I recommend the Swedish massage there. Tenzin was our personal hotel guide...he was incredibly polite, charming & adept at his job. We ordered the vol au vent of prawn with volvo sauce, apple walnut warm... More

Agree, the food is less than appealing ......but....the staff was superb, the hot stone bath after a hike to Tiger Nest was perfect ending to the day....tip...book ahead for hot stone bath. The Spa Director was a gem. The gift shop in the spa held some treasures we had not seen elsewhere. Our room was spacious, near the main lodge... More

The Good - Exterior architecture is appealing - Has its own archery range The Bad - 15 min off main road, mostly bumpy, unpaved trail - The construction budget seemed to have run out after the exteriors were completed. Interior furnishings look haphazardly assembled. This is not an international caliber hotel. - Limited operating budget for grounds maintenance, unless dandelions... More

The views were awesome and the food was one of the best I had in Bhutan. While you are there try their spa. It was awesome. One and half hour of pleasure. Overall five star. I wish I had stayed more than a night. This place is definitely worth the money you pay.

The view from the room is breathtaking...you get the feel of staying in middle of the forest. The staff is accommodating and helpful. Though try to put in a request for a king size bed if you are a couple or are traveling with a small baby.

We were 2 families with kids and stayed in Nak-Sel for just 2 days. We regretted the fact that we had spent more time in Thimpu and were left with less time in Paro. Because Paro is a much better place to enjoy, relax and spend peaceful vacations in Bhutan. Nak-Sel is a very fine property with big spacious rooms... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located thirty minutes from Paro International Airport, Nak-Sel Boutique Hotel & Spa is a luxury retreat where the comforts of man and the presence of nature combine for a peaceful escape in the hills of Bhutan. Nestled on the edge of the national forest and the quiet Ngoba Village, Nak-Sel derives its name from the Dzongka translation of ‘Forest,’ which is only fitting for this Himalayan sanctuary. The main lodge and surrounding cottages of Nak-Sel rest on six acres of apple orchard, nearly 2700 meters above sea level. Each room, cottage and suite boasts unparalleled views of Mount Jumolhari, Taktsang Monastery, Sangachoekhor Monastery, and the Paro valley below. Elaborate hand-carved pillars and beautiful stonework exemplify the essence of Bhutan while tapered mud-brick walls provide insulation and restful silence. Leading Bhutan in energy efficiency, Nak-Sel features LED lighting, highly efficient water heaters, and Swedish under floor heating systems preheated by solar panels. Main construction materials for Nak-Sel are indigenous and locally purchased. Traditional windows, mud-bricks, framework and even furniture were locally crafted here in Ngoba Village, connecting Nak-Sel to the surrounding forest. ... more   less
