This lodge has an amazingly serene location. The cabins are located around a small lake and each has a balcony with a hammock for relaxing, most facing towards the sunset. There are numerous adventure activities which can be undertaken. The zip line through the forest canopy is a must. The walks to various waterfalls and swimming holes were also fantastic... More

Rustic rooms. Very quiet, beautiful surroundings with the horses roaming free on the property. The cabanas are nice with their hammocks. We loved the horse-riding. Our guide Jose was very knowledgable of Nature and has been collecting butterflies and contributed to the research of a very famous american biologist (Dr. Janzen), and he is great with children during the horse-riding.... This place has a excellent one day adventure pass for $85 which is worth it because it includes horseback riding, tubing down fairly mild rapids, zip line, hot springs and a fantastic lunch. The owners have a mint here with the adventure pass. The hotel is nice but seems to be secondary venture. The rooms are clean but the staff... More

This property is gorgeous and the fact that you are on the edge of the National Park is a huge plus BUT the food is horrendous, the lodgings (because of the holes between boards) let a myriad of bugs in on a constant basis, and electricity is only on for a few hours per day. None through the night to... More

if YOU (the reader) wants a more in-depth and over-all assessment (beating my drum here) --> check a recent (as of April 2014) post @ http://www.betunada.wordpress.com with notes on Volcan Rincon and (quite) nearby Rio Negro Hot Springs. we just were driving by and pulled in and were easily and effortlessly checked in. breakfast (and it was good) included --... This is exactly what it states, it is a mountain lodge, rustic but comfortable. The rooms are basic but its not pricey. Its clean and in a very nice surrounding, the staff are super friendly and hospitable, and we really enjoyed our meals which were very tasty and good value. It is quiet and very close to the park headquarters... More

The spacious cabins were basic...but who cares....the location was wonderful. Ponies wander over the site and you wake up to hear them outside your window. The bathrooms only seem to have cold water...but this is refreshing on a hot day. The lake has resident frogs which hop over the walkways at night. The stars are plentiful and the pool clean... The lodge is located on beautiful peaceful grounds and is conveniently located close to the park. The park also is a hidden gem in Costa Rica as it is much less crowded but just as beautiful as other parks. The staff is amazing and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The manager lived in the states... More

We were traveling with our 9 month old son who still needs a couple of (hot) bottles per day. They do not have a microwave, so my boyfriend had to go sit in the car with the bottle heater for 30min every time we needed a bottle. Our room was horrible, no hot water and way too many disgusting bugs... More

We didn't stay here but stopped for the horse ride, swam in the hot springs and had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the ride was 2 1/2 hours long, midway we swam in the hot springs which was really enjoyable. Our guide however, knew no English but my Spanish was good enough to understand him. He did point... More
