We traveled to Costa Rica for a week and spent the first 2 days at the Blue River Resort. Let me say the reviews saying this is in the middle of nowhere are absolutely right. Most all the secondary roads in the country are dirt and the road to the property is no exception. It is well marked but very... More

Being from Northern Alberta I thought that the descriptions of the road accessing the resort may be a little exaggerated, but I was wrong! The road is very rough in places, large rocks poke through and there are a few steep climbs and ascents, but that being said, it is certainly doable if you take your time. Drive in the... More

Hot springs where very dirty. Restaurant was very bad and way over priced. Room ways way to thin. The hotel grounds where very unkept. Besides birds and toads we saw no animals. Diffidently did not give the rain forest feel as they claim. This is the first hotel I felt cheated of the beauty of Costa Rica. Overrated for what... More

First of they try to claim the water is Green from Minerals. It is a lie there was a mold film on some of the tiny pools. The garden was awful, very unkept. The mud that they offer smelt. The pictures on the web of the lobby was a lie. No wifi in any rooms and it barely worked by... More

We truly appreciate all reviews and the effort taken to make one. We also take them all seriously with an eye to appraising where we are at. That I do not respond to many, only means that I’d rather let the readers judge for themselves. However, when someone attacks us like this I have to assume it represents vindictiveness though... Our group of 8 (two families of four with children age 7-10) really enjoyed our stay at Blue River Resort and Hot Springs. The location was off the beaten track keeping the crowds down, but the resort was beautiful and relaxing. I could not have imagined a better zip line canopy tour, including high trees and a waterfall with excellent... More

We stayed at the Blue River for 4 nights in March this year. I would like to start off by saying if I could give the tour guides a separate rating, it would be 10 stars! They were all so great. Ronald, who did the zipline tour was awesome. We also did the Cano Negro birdwatching tour and the Waterfall... More

We were down in Tamarindo and decided to head up to the Rainforest before taking off for home. We had a one night stay booked, with the plan to spend one full day and a half a day at this resort. I'd highly suggest two nights. It's not enough to say the road to Blue River is a dirt road,... More

The resort is located in a remote area. You need 4 WD car to get there, but, while driving, you see real unspoiled countryside, and views are amazing. My husband and I were really tired and needed to get some rest before starting the adventurous part of the trip. We spent 3 nights there, and the resort was perfect for... More

Stayed 4 nights and 5 days with a group of 6 people. I decided to do something different this year and picked a remote area in order to enjoy the outdoors and the activities they offered. Right off the bat I did not like the pricing for their transportation service. We had a group of six and they told us... More

My wife, 12-year-old son and I stayed here for the first two nights of our Costa Rica vacation. When we first started planning the trip, we thought we'd drive straight to the Arenal Volcano area after landing in Liberia. But as I researched more, I decided we needed to stay at least one night somewhere closer to Liberia so that... More
