We stayed here when on a hiking holidayed part of a group. Loved the informal set up of the rustic cabins despite the unwelcome visitor of a scorpion!! Nightjar and squirrels watched/ heard from comfy bed.

I had finished hiking in Las Pailas section of Rincon de la Vieja and decided to stop. I was charged $80.00 for the night. Lodging consists of one half of separate cabins.Big rooms. Excellent food in the restaurant. Very friendly staff. Lots of guest activities. Self contained community. The place was crawling with birders from the U.S. when I was... More

Imagine my surprise showing up with a group of 6, thinking we had two rooms and finding out that the place was "full". We called our tour operator Alan and he tried to argue with them. They insisted the reservation was for the night before, even though he had an e-mail to the contrary. We were exhausted and run down... More

The lodge is a large property along the Colorado River canyon.  Rooms are located in outbuildings, with one or two rooms per cabin. Rooms are basic, rustic but met our needs. There were no amenities in the room other than furniture and private bath. Each room has an outdoor sitting area with two chairs. The pool facility and bar were... More

The resort has probably received many great reviews because of the activities you can have near the resort. None of them are actually organized by the resort, so strange that travelers give a rating on the resort in the first place. So the resort itself. Nothing inviting when the enter the property. Unpaved roads with many loose rocks, dark, dirty... More

The hotel is really nice. The facility is a series of small buildings separate from the main buildings. Each room is nicely appointed, but there wasn't hot water in our room. The included breakfast was really good and the dining area is fantastic. Located off of Route 1 on a well maintained road(for Costa Rica), the facility is easily accessible.... More

The hotel is located on the way to the Rincon de la Vieja parc, very convenient. Property of the hotel is large, with many cottages. There are some sidewalks to walk on, the rest of the roads are hard to walk on due to large stones, so the walk to the restaurant at night becomes a bit difficult as there... More

Some people called this a scout camp, they were unkind !!. Yes the rooms could be quite a way from the restaurant, pool or reception and decidedly inconvenient if there was a tropical storm when you could be stranded in the bar or restaurant with a beer and have to watch the river rising in the canyon below. However the... More

First let me say, anyone looking for the American experience is going to be disappointed. The ticos. are very friendly and go out of their way to help you if they can. The restaurant is expensive, however, if you didn't drive you can call for a taxi and one @ take you into town for $10 (each way) where there... More

I have mixed feelings about this place, the wooden cabins are clean and the bed comfortable, but very dark with a permanent and strong smell. There were no safe nor TV, which isn't a big issue, but there were tea/coffee facilities, A/C and a (basic) wardrobe. The domain is vast, however, the cabins are next to each other so you... More
