We had previously stayed at San Simeon Pines about 20 years ago and my husband & I wanted to revisit our pleasant memories. Well, as some say, you can't always go back home. There have been absolutely no updates in the rooms in all these years. The toilet seat in our room slid around while you were sitting on it,... More

Recently spent a few days in Cambria and wanted to try a new hotel so picked the San Simeon Pines Resort. I wanted to try one of the hotels that offered a pool. You have to be aware that this hotel has not been updated for a long time. So for the price charged I felt it was a little... More

We appreciate you taking the time to write your review. Summertime is definitely our busiest time for family reunions and lots of kids! We are the only place on Moonstone that offers outdoor activities, so families love it! A wonderful time for peace and quiet, and beautiful weather, is the fall. We hope you can schedule your next trip during... More

We had booked this motel resort as it was one of the least expensive options in the Cambria area that was near the sea and in walking distance of some restaurants and bars. The place utterly proves that you get what you pay for. The rooms are basic but adequate, though very dated, the bed was comfortable but had sheets... More

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. I got a laugh out of the "duvet" comment! One look at our website and you can see there are no duvets or promises of them! What we do offer are clean, comfortable rooms, very reasonable rates and lots of acreage and outdoor activities to enjoy. We do hope you... More

This is somewhat a late review, we stayed 5/13/14. A group of us rode to Monterey for lunch from the Central Valley, then rode south on Hwy 1 for a little get away. We reserved 4 double rooms and all were ready at check-in. The staff was more than accommodating and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds... More

Have you ever dreamed of the "good ole days" when family-owned motels dotted the tourist thoroughfares like lights on a Christmas tree. Cambria, California, is like that, especially San Simeon Pines Motel--quaint, beautiful, clean, sprawling, with all the best the 21st century has to offer (free WiFi) without losing the 1950s ambience. You jockey with other guests to park as... More

Thank you for the thorough review....you have summed us up quite well and with some humor! You definitely had me smiling when you described our breakfast - We advertise a complimentary, CONTINENTAL breakfast, just what it is. We appreciate the 5 star rating, and hope that you and your wife will return to San Simeon Pines for another "1950's Romantic"... More

We recently spent some time at The San Simeon Pines Resort and it was as beautiful as we remembered it. We noticed some obvious signs of wear and tear in our room (a dresser drawer was inoperable and the carpet was worn and buckled, there were not nearly enough plugs in the room and the light bulbs, though efficient, didn't... Thank you for the high rating and nice review. We are pleased that you appreciate the location and grounds here at San Simeon Pines. We recognize that our rooms are a bit dated, but clean and comfortable and our rates are very reasonable for Moonstone Beach Drive. We do hope that you continue to return as our guests to enjoy... As others have said, the rooms do need updating...especially the bathrooms (vintage 60's) & the lazy boy type chairs in front of the other fireplace.....yuck. Other than that (and the fact that there was no "real" closet...just a rod), we were happy. We had a room with a fireplace and even a view of the ocean...very nice! Fireplace worked beautifully.... The place is kind of cute, but kind of worn out. It has fireplaces that we couldn't really get going the first night so it was cold (didn't trust the heater). Asked for extra blankets the next night and they were old and rough. The location is a little too removed from the beach for me, pines (although nice) are... More

Sorry our location was not what you were looking for....there are many motels down the road that have ocean views - we hope that you will keep coming back to Cambria until you find that perfect one! PS - I can assure you that our heaters work! More

Looked like bathroom had not been cleaned for months. Lots of black mold, and very dirty floors. Continental "breakfast" consisted of empty carbs similar to food that is given out at food banks. Little Sur Inn much better value!!

We appreciate you taking the time to write your review and we have discussed this with the managers and housekeeping. Regarding the continental breakfast, they traditionally consist of coffee, tea, juice and a pastry of some sort, so we are sorry that with the addition of hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, fruit and toast, it was not up... We booked the room thru our am ex site and had read the reviews... as most hotels along this stretch of beach were booked given the season, we said sure.. one night and the price was 124. King bed... Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We have since discussed this with the managers on duty at the time of your stay.
