This is our favorite place to stay in Cambria. It's very quiet, clean, comfortable, etc. and the setting is great. For those of you who always complain about anything that hasn't been re-remodeled in the last 6 months as being outdated, you may want to go somewhere else. I never understood why some people think anything not brand new is... More

This place is great. San Simeon Pines Resort somehow feels miles away from the row of hotels just down Moonstone Beach Drive. The small parkland that sits between it and the ocean is filled with gorgeous Monterey Pines and trails that lead to near-deserted pristine bluffs. Stand there long enough like we did and you'll see grey whales, sea otters,... More

We had also read some negative feedback about San Simeon Pines so arrived a bit cautiously. Lovely big bedroom, spotlessly clean, very comfortable. The breakfast was exactly what had been promised - probably better and the facilities were great. Although the car park suggested the motel was busy/full, it didn't feel crowded and we spent two afternoons in the swimming... More

I see a lot of negative reviews of San Simeon Pines Resort so I felt a need to give it a positive one. Perhaps the rooms are a bit outdated, but the room was extremely clean and spacious. Our room overlooked the rose garden....with a sliding glass door of our room leading right to it. I could sit and listen... More

San Simeon Pines has not changed in the last 35 years. That was the last time we stayed here. The rooms are outdated, but are quaint. Love the outdoor activities provided and the walk to the beach. Cannot see the sunsets from the hotel, however just a short walk you will experience the beautiful sunsets. I feel the price was... More

So glad you remembered us and came back to visit after all these years! We have upgraded many of our amenities, but, yes, our rooms are still quaint and clean. Glad you appreciate the outdoor activities and took advantage of the close location to the ocean. Hope you join us again, but sooner than 35 years!! More

We had previously stayed at San Simeon Pines about 20 years ago and my husband & I wanted to revisit our pleasant memories. Well, as some say, you can't always go back home. There have been absolutely no updates in the rooms in all these years. The toilet seat in our room slid around while you were sitting on it,... More

We regret that you did not enjoy your stay with us, but we do have to wonder if your negative review has anything to do with your being caught smoking in a non-smoking room and being charged the appropriate fee. More

Recently spent a few days in Cambria and wanted to try a new hotel so picked the San Simeon Pines Resort. I wanted to try one of the hotels that offered a pool. You have to be aware that this hotel has not been updated for a long time. So for the price charged I felt it was a little... More

We appreciate you taking the time to write your review. Summertime is definitely our busiest time for family reunions and lots of kids! We are the only place on Moonstone that offers outdoor activities, so families love it! A wonderful time for peace and quiet, and beautiful weather, is the fall. We hope you can schedule your next trip during... More

We had booked this motel resort as it was one of the least expensive options in the Cambria area that was near the sea and in walking distance of some restaurants and bars. The place utterly proves that you get what you pay for. The rooms are basic but adequate, though very dated, the bed was comfortable but had sheets... More

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. I got a laugh out of the "duvet" comment! One look at our website and you can see there are no duvets or promises of them! What we do offer are clean, comfortable rooms, very reasonable rates and lots of acreage and outdoor activities to enjoy. We do hope you... More

This is somewhat a late review, we stayed 5/13/14. A group of us rode to Monterey for lunch from the Central Valley, then rode south on Hwy 1 for a little get away. We reserved 4 double rooms and all were ready at check-in. The staff was more than accommodating and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds... More

Have you ever dreamed of the "good ole days" when family-owned motels dotted the tourist thoroughfares like lights on a Christmas tree. Cambria, California, is like that, especially San Simeon Pines Motel--quaint, beautiful, clean, sprawling, with all the best the 21st century has to offer (free WiFi) without losing the 1950s ambience. You jockey with other guests to park as... More

Thank you for the thorough review....you have summed us up quite well and with some humor! You definitely had me smiling when you described our breakfast - We advertise a complimentary, CONTINENTAL breakfast, just what it is. We appreciate the 5 star rating, and hope that you and your wife will return to San Simeon Pines for another "1950's Romantic"... More
