My family and I were traveling down the California coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles and wanted to stay at an oceanfront motel/hotel approximately halfway. Since we were planning to visit Hearst Castle the next morning and Cambria is just one town away, we booked a room (2 in fact) for the night. Each room contained a small living... more

Beautiful location (although you should know that there is a road between the hotel and the boardwalk/beach), staff at reception desk is very helpful, rooms are beautiful and the gas fireplace in the room is great, overall good value. Shame for the breakfast. The breakfast area is too small for the number of guests. Result: very crowded, waiting for a... more

The Fogcatcher Inn was a wonderful little find for me. Located directly across the road from Moonstone Beach, it was a beautiful way to relax with friends. I enjoyed walking the boardwalk and taking in the local beauty, downtown is a few miles away, it could walked if you're feeling ambitious. There were two restaurants a very short distance from... more

We stayed 4 nights at the Fogcatcher to use it as a base to explore. We booked a 2 queen room, which was huge. We didn't splurge for the view, but got a garden view room which had an ocean view straight outside the room door, with quaint garden seating that allowed a full sea view. This is a country... more

There's only one room in this glorified motel with a deck and ocean view. But of course that's the one on the brochure and web site. Great location, across from beach. Rooms are so-so, but clean; only a few in the front have views. Nice breakfast. Friendly, cooperative staff. But there are other hotels along the Moonstone Beach strip with... more

We didn't have reservations and got great rates -- $109/night -- and stayed for one night, midweek, on our way from LA to SF. Stayed with friends from London and we had a fantastic time. The rooms were basic and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful and the location was superb. Breakfast was good, very convenient, though the coffee... more

Spent Mothers Day weekend in Cambria at the FogCatcher. I read reviews in TripAdvisor prior to going and read about the front desk being rude. I did not experience this at all. The front desk folks were really nice and friendly. Upon check-in they suggested some places to eat and they were the best places I had already researched on... more

We have stayed at the Fogcatcher Inn many times before and still find that it is keeping it's self up to date and current for the most part. That being said, one needs always to keep themselves on their toes. A Four Season's Hotel is not without helpful hints, so neither is the Fogcatcher Inn. First the staff. They are,... more

Large, well-furnished room. Extensive breakfast options (the waffle maker is good fun to use) and the cookies on arrival is a nice touch. Lovely location. more

This hotel (and others in the Pacifica chain) could not be better. It's quaint and picturesque with thoroughly modern amenities, steps away from the beach and extraordinarily fine dining. The breakfast included fresh-squoze juice and was excellent. Some rooms are pet-friendly. If you shop different sites or call them directly, rates are beyond reasonable (do not go for the "rack"... more
