Had the pleasure of 4 nights here, primarily to go to Yosemite and surrounding area.It was a good choice. The rooms in the motel are all wood, very clean if not a little small. The road noise may be a problem for some but for us it was not an issue. We dined at the settlement restaurant for dinner and breakfast on... The place is near Bodie, Yosemite and Sierra Nevada. We arrived very late because of a detour. I called ahead and they left the key and a note outside our room, which had already been heated because temperature was around 0°C. Behind the cabins runs a little river. If you leave the door open neighbouring wildlife may enter (cute little... More

Twice this locale has been our one-night stop over prior to a multi day back country, backpacking trip into the eastern sierras. Both visits have been exceptionally pleasant. Setting along virginia creek is idyllic; if only the 395 highway weren't so close. Easy to overlook given the setting and service. Don is great as is entire staff. Food is good... More

We prefer to stay in rustic places whenever we venture out of our comfort zone and enjoyed finding a perfect blend of rustic and modern amenities. Best of all, and you have a choice as to how much rustic you want to experience…from covered wagon to private cabin. We stayed in the motel row, which was super clean and met... More

I slept well, probably because I was dead tired from wandering the hills around the Sonora Pass during the day, but the mattress did not cause for my back to yell out at me. I stayed in Room Number 1, decorated with John Wayne photos. The motel says he stayed in the room, did not run into his ghost. There... More

We stayed here last week and absolutely loved it. We picked it because it was the closest to the Bodie ghost town, unfortunately the Bodie was closed for winter (should have checked before arriving) However, it turned out for the best, we lived our log cabin which was full of charm and really cosy. The people who run it are... More

The only downside is the tiny bugs in the bathroom and they changed computer systems so made a error with our booking and payments . However the place is unusual and quite a nice place to stay , very close to Bodie.

We stayed one night at Virginia Creek Settlement as it is very handy for the (not-to-be-missed) Bodie ghost town. The room (No 2) was a bit small by modern standards but has everything you'd want and a comfortable bed. Log cabin style with lots of photos of film cowboys on the wall (Lash LaRue anyone?) Food was good and plenty... More

I've stayed here a few times. I recommend that you book a room rather then the tent cabins. I found the room to be a wonderful mix of rustic log cabin with old western movie pictures. The restaurant serves a very nice bill of fair. Staying at the Virgina Creek Settlement is always a highlight of my trip when I... More

Pretty neat establishment, close proximity to Bodie (ghost town) and Mono lake. Not far from Yosemite, June lake, Mammoth lakes and so on. Nice dinner, very-very nice staff. And you can sleep in a pioneer-wagon :-) I stayed in a "full cottage" (with en-suite bathroom), pity I never found how to turn on the heat -- night was cold (mid-late... More
