On our way to Reno, we used tripadvisor to find a place for the night. We found El Rancho and booked it online. We arrived at the motel after 10pm. We did not realize it was closed. It was not well lit and was across the street from an old trailer park, and to be frank, it scared my wife... More

We stopped through Bishop headed from Santa Fe to Lake Tahoe and glad we did. Stopped for free wifi and McDonalds and liked what we read. The owner was pleasant and gave us a good rate $66 for the night. Was tucked away on a side street so no street noise from the busy 395. We loved it. Clean, homey.... More

This is not your ordinary 1950's pink flamingo "motor court" motel. It is clean, the bed comfortable, and the bath, while quite tiny is updated with a nicely tiled shower, floor, and new fixtures. Our room included a small frig, microwave, coffee maker and a comfy chair and hassock. The TV was easy to use, the room fresh looking (no... More

We normally don't mind older 'motels', we like to park close to our room. Based on the previous reviews we gave it a shot. Will not stay here again though. Pro's: Decent rates. This facility is old but the room smelled clean (a bleach smell), linen and mattress were in good condition, the carpet was fairly clean, some homey decorating... More

We were looking for a place to stay on our way back to Las Vegas that wasn't right on 395. El Rancho more than satisfied our basic needs as it was clean, quiet and within walking distance to a great bakery, the Great Basin Bakery We booked a room with a kitchen to get more space. TV controls are difficult... More

We had to change locations at the last minute due to altitude sickness and were happy to get a room here. We were pleasantly surprised. Good bed, sheets and towels. Shower OK. Motel is old and the heat was 'funky'. TV controls were not obvious. The managers were quick to help on both--ask if you need help. Lots of space... More

Nice quaint place. Clean and well furnished. Simple, but adequate. Off the main drag and very quiet. Close to all walking activity in Bishop, Ca. Bed comfortable, but not the five star comfort of higher end hotel. This place reminds me of home. Parking just outside the room, sweet. Ice machine close, but they discourage filing of coolers. Check-in so-so... More

Nice place, good price and very nice staff. Wifi doesn't work in every room, but the small garden fixes this easily and you get some talk with random people as bonus. No breakfast but a nice little grocery store is just 2 minutes walking distance.

Entering our room was exactly like one of those Booking.com commercials where we're both tired and cranky and not at all sure what to expect when we get in, and being totally thrilled when the lights came on. El Rancho isn't a whole lot to look at from the outside, but the rooms are awesome-- recently renovated, and clearly a... More

Don't let the shabby office and so-so neighborhood discourage you: the rooms are really great. This place looks like a no-name motel from the outside, but the room we got was excellent: squeeky clean, freshly painted with a nice, simple decor, beautiful hardwood floors, a full kitchen and a sitting area, nice bathroom. Getting back there at the end of... More
