Ive hiked around Big Bear for many years, and most times I stop in to town I stay at Black Forest Lodge. It is extremely reasonable, rustic, and Rita and her staff seem to always go out of the way for the guests, that has been my opinion on every visit-- well into double digits as far as total stays... Found ourselves looking for a last minute dog friendly place to stay and Balck Forest Lodge met our needs. No extra charge for dogs which was nice. Several green areas to walk your dogs. Exterior is charming, however, interior needs updated. Would be nice if interior matched exterior charm. Room smelled of smoke and required some airing out. Location is... More

We stayed there in Natasha`s Cabin , it smelled bad, everything was very old. The stove was about 50 years old, the fridge about 30 years old. It seems like the owners never put any money refurbishing or remodeling anything. The concrete in the basketball courts is old and cracked, the ping pong table is old and in very bad... More

Our experience with Black Forest Lodge was the most terrible experience we ever had. The grounds were cluttered with the ice machine outside and scuzzy. As for the room, it smelled. The TV didn't work properly. They turned off the heat for the summer, even though at night it was still 55 degrees. There was no security, not even a... More

My husband and I visited with our dogs memorial weekend, we stayed here before but at the motel part not a cabin and it was pretty nice so we decided this time to get a cabin. Our cabin came with a small kitchenette and a Jacuzzi tub. When we got to the cabin first thing we noticed was holy cow... More

We arrived at around midnight, tired of course from the drive (San Diego) Front desk lady very nice and helpful. We got to the cabin, unpacked, turned on the heater and proceeded to get ready for bed. Well, the sheets were not clean, a lot of hair on the sheets some seemed to be curly! If you get what I'm... This place is great! If you want to rest and chillout from the city rush THIS IS IT! Lodges are cozy and clean, well equipped and comfortable. Yes they are little bit old and have the "cottage" smell but we dont care. Cottages have their own kitchen with all equipment so you can cook meals and dont have to go... More

Booked a suite at Black Forest the night before we headed out to Big Bear. We were nervous after reading other reviews but the price was very reasonable and it was close to the main village. When we arrived we were upgrade to a cottage, we were pleasantly surprised. The cottages stand alone so we didn't share any walls. It... More

This place was more then what i had expected. The price for a cottage was very reasonable and well worth it. I was so excited when i walked in and saw how beautiful the cottage was. The sauna was right next to the fireplace and the decor was so cute. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well, i... More

To tell you the truth, I booked this motel before I ever read any of the reviews. Then I read the reviews and my stomach dropped, but it was too late to get a refund. So we went and it was really really great! I don't know what everyone who is complaining about this place is complaining about. Our room... More
