we stayed in the juniper room (which, according to the owners is one of the small rooms they have) on 01/03/16 for 1 night. -First the room is so small that there is no room for a chair or even a desk for that matter. barely enough room to go around the bed. The pictures on the web site do... More

Upon arriving around 5pm the day before Thanksgiving, we found no one to welcome us. The lights were out in the living room where you enter. We had to search for someone in the kitchen to sign us in. During our 3 day stay, sadly their fireplace was never lit, despite the below freezing temps outdoors. Breakfast offering during the... More

This was a birthday surprise for my hubby and we were lucky enough to have snow. They gave us a call on the day of arrival to see when we'd be arriving. Hadn't anticipated the snow falling, and we didn't have chains for the tires. Upon arriving the entrance driveway we had a little trouble so I went into see... More

My husband and I went to Big Bear for a couples retreat, and decided to book our accommodations at Knickerbocker Mansion sight unseen. We were SO HAPPY we did! We didn't arrive until almost 10pm, but even so the owner was still waiting for us to check in. He showed us to our suite - an absolutely AMAZING room with... More

I booked two rooms. It was our anniversary for my husband and I and some of our friends. I was really excited to stay there based on the pictures and the good reviews. We were welcomed nicely by the owners and offered some very good iced tea. They showed us to the rooms...telling us about the buildings along the way.... More

Long story short: In our search for a nice place to eat dinner in Big Bear, we stumbled upon the Knickerbocker. The minute we walked in the door, we knew we had to stay there. The Inn itself is traditional and charming. The food and service is excellent. Our room was romantic and extremely comfortable. The location is perfect. The... More

If you book this place you will not regret it. Owners of this wonderful place live on the property. Two of the kindest people you will ever meet. Anything you need, they will make sure you get it. Rooms are cozy, close to the Big Bear Lake (couple minutes away) and this location is just a perfect getaway. Located near... More

We were a group of food, wine and fun loving friends. There were 16 of us. We went here for the food and ambiance. and were very pleased. Until darkness fell we enjoyed the rustic, alpine like views from the dining room. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was a mixture of country charm, a few sophisticated... In the last year the new owners have cleaned and redecorated the entire place, and have plans to do more. Ed and Vicki Harris have brought their unique Southern Hospitality to the west coast's historic site. For the fourth of July 2015 we were invited to have diner and view the fireworks from their second story balcony. However Big Bear... More

My hubby and I spent four days including the 4th of July weekend at The Knickerbocker Mansion! The innkeepers, Vicky and Ed Harris, want you to have the very best experience you can! They were very helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, shopping, lake activities and even some adventures if you are interested! The Bistro at the mansion serves some of... More
