We were at Abdi's in mid of April for two days and had a great time. There are several bungalows, some with two floors; we chose the one in the small pond with the little bridge. It was very nice. The bathroom with a mandi and a european toilet used the water from the waterfall right behind the resort. We... More

After all the recommendation for that place we wanted to go to abdys homestay for sure. The Problem was Maybe that too many People told us too much good stuff, so it was a Little bit disappointing At the end. Whats great? -the Location, next to a waterfall and the big Stone walls, directly in the rice fields -you can... More

I was lucky and could pick my own cottage! Took the one with the little bridge, which happened to be brand new :) It is a nice valley with the sound of a big waterfull on the back, looking at the ricefields and mountains while sitting at my porch. Stayed with Ikbal ad Noni for 4 days. Ikbal, Noni and... More

It 's in the top 10 of our places we've been. Good cooking nice atmosphere between our travelers. On walking distance from all the waterfalls. Place to take a rest. Where else you can stay almost UNDER a waterfall?

email and phone before hand with Ikbal worked fine, he picked us up on his way through Bukittinggi having dropped other guests off. Nice huts, comfy bed, had to do some remedial stitching on the mossie net. Cold shower was fine when we got back hot and sweaty from our walk, but not so good the next day when we... More

Can't wait to return to Abdi homestay. It is the kind of place where phones, internet, cars and work don't matter anymore. What does matter is sleeping with the sound of frogs, birds and a waterfall behind you. Waking up to the incredible howling noise of gibbons on the plateaus above. A view on rice paddies, cliffs, waterfalls and volcanos.... More

From Bukittinggi, it took us over 3 hours to reach Harau Valley and the homestay (bad traffic and heavy rain enroute). When we finally arrived, it was pitched dark, rainy and cold. They should have hung a torch-lamp/huge bulb in the trees at the parking lot so we could see where we’re going or what we’re stepping on! From the... More

This place is really amazing! We have been there during our trip through Sumatra last summer. We almost cancelled the next accomodation to stay longer in Harau. Tropical beaches you see anywhere, but a scenery like this, only here in Harau valley. We are definitely planning a next trip to Sumatra and will go to Abdi again for sure! The... More
