From Bukittinggi, it took us over 3 hours to reach Harau Valley and the homestay (bad traffic and heavy rain enroute). When we finally arrived, it was pitched dark, rainy and cold. They should have hung a torch-lamp/huge bulb in the trees at the parking lot so we could see where we’re going or what we’re stepping on! From the... More

This place is really amazing! We have been there during our trip through Sumatra last summer. We almost cancelled the next accomodation to stay longer in Harau. Tropical beaches you see anywhere, but a scenery like this, only here in Harau valley. We are definitely planning a next trip to Sumatra and will go to Abdi again for sure! The... More

Great, magical place to stay in Harau! I would definitely go back. Basically located under a waterfall looking out over the rice fields, this place is pretty magical in an already amazing place: Harau valley. The little bungalows are very basic, but have all you need and are clean. Home cooked meals are delivered on you balcony and delicious (at... More

Wonderful place it's clean, it's cheap, the staff is wonderful and will do everything to make you feel good, it's in the middle if hundreds if rice fields and one of the most relaxing places I've been. And the food! Homemade and so delicious! I abseloutly recommend this place if you wanna relax without all the hassle of a city!

We were going on a spontaneous weekend getaway to escape Pekanbaru haze season. My friend stayed at Abdi's few years back thus she arranged our stay there for the trip. And it was awesome! They have very friendly staff which is great and the cabins were clean and homey! Perfect for a nature getaway. Special mention for the bathroom, it... More

We like to plan our trips well in advance, so had emailed Ikbal 3 months ahead to confirm our 4 night stay. We also sent several emails nearer to our arrival. Our flight into Padang arrived in the middle of a thunder storm, so by the time we negotiated a taxi to the Harau Valley it was getting late. We... More

We spent 2 nights here and I wish we would have had more. There is just a handful of cabins at this homestay, and are comfortable and a nice size with a great patio area overlooking the rice paddies and karst mountains and cliffs. A waterfall flows in full view of the homestay. The views really can't be beat. The... More

From Bukittinggi it couldn't get any easier to find. Straight road all the way. Good bungalow and very laidback atmosphere. Ikbal was great host cooking food and fullfilling even our hunt for some bread. Some rock-climbing can be done (awesome cliffs just next to the bungalows) but bring your own shoes since Ikbal has only the size 41. In overall,... More
