I enjoy the Hotel Durant during my stay at Berkeley. The staff was very kind with all the people who came for this trip to U. Berkeley, they tried to speak to us even in spanish, if they notice for us was difficult... The hotel is confortable. It was near the university.

This was my second time at this wonderful hip/retro hotel overlooking the UC Berkeley campus. The lobby is fantastic with Henry's pub right off the lobby and the restaurant in the front of the pub is lovely. It has small sunny alcoves for intimate dining on exquisitely prepared fresh food. Breakfast is served in this sunny quiet place, I ordered... More

Our organization hosted a conference at UC Berkeley and Hotel Durant was fully booked by our group. The hotel had been refurbished and markets itself as a 'boutique' hotel. The rooms were small. My coworker's room had a bad smell (the rotten smell like that found in a poorly maintained apartment building trash chute) and the only thing the hotel... More

I have stayed in a number of boutique hotels in Europe and while at first this was the sense I had here, I later realized it was just old and still attempting to pass as "boutique". The location for a tour of Cal can't be beat. Literally a five minute walk if that, from the admissions office. The lobby was... More

Stayed here for several nights when visiting our daughter at Cal. I am very fond of Hotel Shattuck Plaza but decided to give the Durant a try. The lobby is lovely and steeped in Cal history. There is a small restaurant with cozy window alcoves and good food and service. We had breakfast there and it was delicious. The bar... More

This hotel is very well located for a visit to U Cal Berkeley. Staff was efficient and reasonably friendly. Did think it was a bit strange that the bottled water, which was put well away from the "pay" items in the room were actually also being sold for $5.50 each. Also there was a charge to print anything and also... More

Situated right across Cal Berkeley, close to many restaurants and shops and service was decent and they allow pets, which we have, however being an old historical hotel I was disappointed with the decor, it was more like a dorm room instead of befitting a hotel with good strong bones and historical feel. I wish someone with vision could save... More

We spent 1 night here while picking up our kids from Cal camp. While the location to campus was great as was the service, I felt like I was staying in a haunted hotel from yesteryear. The hotel has not been updates since the 60's and was relatively noisy. The beds were uncomfortable - it was like staying in an... More

The hotel is a little dated (1960s) but is really not too bad. I stayed here while in a conference in SF. It was about 50% less than staying in the city. Taking the BART system gets you downtown in about 20 minutes. It is a good walk from the station to the hotel though. About 10 blocks. If you... More

Unbeatable location - right on campus and easy walk to shops and restaurants and everything. Room - a bit small but with good amenities, bathroom is a bit too small though. Like the cute/quaint decor. Clean. Sometimes can be a little noisy at night. Free wifi a plus.
