This hotel is very well located for a visit to U Cal Berkeley. Staff was efficient and reasonably friendly. Did think it was a bit strange that the bottled water, which was put well away from the "pay" items in the room were actually also being sold for $5.50 each. Also there was a charge to print anything and also... More

Situated right across Cal Berkeley, close to many restaurants and shops and service was decent and they allow pets, which we have, however being an old historical hotel I was disappointed with the decor, it was more like a dorm room instead of befitting a hotel with good strong bones and historical feel. I wish someone with vision could save... More

We spent 1 night here while picking up our kids from Cal camp. While the location to campus was great as was the service, I felt like I was staying in a haunted hotel from yesteryear. The hotel has not been updates since the 60's and was relatively noisy. The beds were uncomfortable - it was like staying in an... More

The hotel is a little dated (1960s) but is really not too bad. I stayed here while in a conference in SF. It was about 50% less than staying in the city. Taking the BART system gets you downtown in about 20 minutes. It is a good walk from the station to the hotel though. About 10 blocks. If you... More

Unbeatable location - right on campus and easy walk to shops and restaurants and everything. Room - a bit small but with good amenities, bathroom is a bit too small though. Like the cute/quaint decor. Clean. Sometimes can be a little noisy at night. Free wifi a plus.

The Durant hotel is located on walking distance to the Berkeley university campus. The hotel is a bit worn down and the furniture in my room was crammed into the room. The bed was ok, the breakfast ok, the staff helpful, but the general impression was an old worn down and not totally clean hotel.

The main virtue, by far, is the location. A couple minute walk to campus and easy food up and down the street. There is also free parking on-site. We arrived late at night and took the last possible spot, so I suppose there was enough for an off-season stay. I'd be a bit worried at a busy time. There is... More

Hotel Durant is located walking distance from UC Berkeley (one block) and many restaurants. It is an older hotel, really more of an inn, so all of the rooms are small and differently shaped. The parking is very expensive but here is a tip. Street parking is free after 6 pm and before 9 am so if you arrive late... More

My stay at the Hotel Durant was offered to me by the UC Berkeley College of Built Environment, while I was visiting Berkeley for a final review. The stay was comfortable, but I had to change rooms within the first 30mins of arriving, as the front desk offered me a room literally behind the elevator. Then the second night, there... More

I'd really give this place a 4 1/2 stars because it was *almost* perfect, but since Tripadvisor doesn't allow that, I'll go for the full 5 stars. The character and charm of Hotel Durant are amazing. From the lobby to the on-site restaurant to the rooms, it is decorated in a luxurious and thoughtful style that makes it stand out... More
