We were evacuated at 1:00 a.m. from this hotel after a city fire department inspection revealed severe code violations, including inoperable sprinkler and alarm systems, stuck exit doors, and non-functional fire hose hookups. Hotel management was rude, unapologetic, and did almost nothing for the 100+ guests that had to pack up and leave. Need I say more? more

This hotel was just terrible. Our room had ripped carpeting, an unpleasant smell, and stains on the bedspread. Friends staying in another room had cigarette burns in their sheets. The common areas were clean, but the rooms are deplorable. You will regret staying here. more

You won't mistake the Best Western University Inn for a luxury hotel, but I was comfortable staying there for 3 nights. The first night I was in a room facing University St., which was very noisy. The next morning they gladly moved me to a back room; if one hadn't been available my review would be significantly different. The rooms... more

The motel was okay, but they kept running out of things. We stayed a week. There was no shampoo available for the first 4 days we were there. When we asked for it, they said they had none. They had make you own waffles for the continental breakfast. They ran out of batter for the first 4 days. They had... more

They completely messed up my reservation. And then were entirely unprofessional in trying to rectify the situation. No customer service skills. If you get stuck having to stay at this hotel because there aren't any others available, document EVERYTHING because they are always right. more

We normally stay at Best Westerns because of their reliablilty for a clean room at a decent price, but this hotel definately had their problems. First of all their website says it was recently remodeled. Although the beds were fine, all the bathrooms needed help. We had 3 rooms altogether, and each bathroom had different problems. We had ants crawling in... more

I had a great experience with this hotel. The staff was great and very accommodating. Rooms were just renovated recently I think. I stayed here last year and didn’t like the hotel when it was a RAMADA INN.. But they did wonders. more

This was one of the most horrible hotel experiences I've had. The staff was sullen and unhelpful. The carpet in the halls were stained and the building in general reeked of old food. The room itself was a joke- plaster peeling off the walls in the bathroom, a 'non-smoking' room that smelled of smoke, a broken TV turner, and walls... more

Let me start by saying I have in the past been impressed with Best Western's consistently good hotels and service, but this hotel is an exception. We went to Berkeley in August for a concert. The website said it was a new hotel as of January, which is untrue. It *might* have been remodeled in January, but it was probably... more

After reading some reviews of this hotel I was a little nervous but it was not as bad as indicated. It wasn't great though. When we checked in the woman at the desk was very friendly, found our reservation quickly and promised to find get us a great room. When I couldn't find my Best Western Rewards number in my... more
