For my money the Bancroft Hotel is the best of Berkeley. A quaint, historic hotel, the Bancroft is ideally located directly across the street from UC Berkeley. This is perfect for anyone transacting business on campus, as I was. It is also great for Cal Alums wanting to recall their student days, and for anyone wanting to soak up some... More

I stayed 3 nights in this lovely, friendly hotel. Good service, nice price lovely place...No noise, quiet room, good breakfast (real US) a great coffeeshop as a neighbour, with a beautiful terrace. Visiting my son at Berkeley University it was the best place to stay

I stayed in room 201 in Dec 2014. The room in this charming late-1920s-era building is quite large for one person: queen bed and small sofa, desk, end tables. The bathroom is quite small (not a problem for me, as I am 5 feet tall) but charming and beautifully tiled. Towels are interestingly textured and both utilitarian and beautiful. EO... More

This hotel (which I see has recently begun advertising itself as a bed and breakfast) is a National Historical Landmark, and the nearest hotel to campus. It has a lot going for it if you like well maintained lodging with a strong historical flavor, as do my wife and I. **But a warning: As a National Historical Landmark, this hotel... More

Stayed here with a small group that traveled to SF for a wedding. The room was outstanding, quint, clean, comfortable and included a balcony. Not everyone in our group had the same level of satisfaction but the room and service was, in our case, excellent. Small parking lot and our rental car was a massive rental car - not what... More

This hotel is very quaint with beautiful Craftsman details. They serve a continental breakfast on the second floor and you can sit in a charming bay window alcove to eat it. The room and bathroom weren't huge but were big enough. The location is great - just across the street from the Berkeley campus and within walking distance to Telegraph... More

I read the TripAdvisor reviews before booking. When I arrived at the Bancroft Hotel at 8:30 PM on a Saturday night I was not surprised to find the “Lot Full” sign up in the public parking lot next to the hotel. I was not surprised that there was a wedding reception in full swing on the ground floor of the... More

Really enjoyed our visit to Bancroft Hotel. Had two booking, with a trip to Napa Valley in the middle. Our first visit to Berkeley as our daughter was starting Law School. Location was fantastic in being close to campus. While there was noise from the coffee shop next door it wasn't bothersome. Hotel felt like the type of place I... More

Stayed here over several days for business. Perhaps my first impression was soured due to an administrative hiccup that the staff was unwilling to work out, but the staff I dealt with was unhelpful and unfriendly. The room was quite small, which would have been fine if it wasn't sweltering (both night and day.) The beds were only alright, and... More

Location: This hotel is located across the street from the main UC Berkeley Campus. It is an uphill walk to the Greek Theater for concerts and Memorial Stadium for sporting events. Scene: There is very little to this hotel. No bar, no pool, no hot tub. They do offer a free continental breakfast in a quaint dinning room. Parking: There... More
