Had lunch with friends at the Union Hotel so decided to stay there for a couple of days. This hotel is very old but that's what makes it cool. Lots of antiques in the room some attention to detail is needed but still a nice room comfortable room. We stayed in the Primrose Beach room and could see downtown and... More

Have been coming here once a year for many years....has gone from OK to won't come back. Excellent location in downtown Benicia near the waterfront and convenient to shops and restaurants. The building is well over 100 years old, but there is no excuse for poor maintenance and lack of cleanliness. Our "Marigold" room was poorly cleaned, mattress sunk in... More

Great location in town. Turn of the century building with antique historic atmosphere. Good food, especially a good dinner location for business. Rooms are well appointed and well maintained, but are a bit worn in.

My BF & I stayed in the Marigold Room. A little different from the photos of the room on their website. Prior to writing this review, I emailed the hotel so that they had a chance to address these things, but they never replied. First red flag, we called the hotel to ask them a question before our arrival. They... More

Well we got in after hours on a Saturday night close to midnight. There were folks on the street being very noisy, we assumed from bar across the street. The room had a jacuzzi tub that would not hold water. That in itself really ticked me off since I had just put some expensive lavender bath in only to find... More

The room was large with a nice view, but the furnishing were very tired. Antiques were in poor condition. The shower over the tub was awful. Strange operation with no manager in attendance most of the time. Very noisy until the early hours of the morning.

We checked into the Union Hotel on a Saturday in early for a short 1 night stay. The hotel is historical and has many quaint features, but the rooms are very tired and in need of update - the quaintness of the antiques is lost in that the furnishings are in pretty poor shape. The bathroom is private, which is... More

We like older historic properties and wanted to like the Union more than we did. The building looks fine on the outside, but the interior was a mixed bag. Lots of deferred maintenance noted. Our room was nice & large, but needed a better cleaning and more amenities in the bathroom. The staff was nice. The breakfast was average. Another... More

My girlfriend and I stayed one night for my 30 year high school reunion. We were in the Arrowgrass room. I was born and raised in town and worked there for over 15 years. However, staying there for our event gave me a new appreciation for the local hotel. Room was fine, old small tv, no coffee for coffee maker... More

I'm so glad we found the town of Benicia. It's a historic town that has been so well preserved. The small shops and restaurants are charming and the location is great right on the bay. The Union hotel is from the late 1800's and has an old world charm. It's a real bargain and includes a hot breakfast. Also the... More
