Old, smelly, dirty and not inexpensive. This place was built in 1967 and is very dated. The entire place has a bit of a musty odor. There was mildew and what could have been mold in the ceiling of the shower, the drywall tape was literally coming down, the shower floor was so dirty that my gal insisted on wearing... More

We stayed at Bear Valley Lodge last night as part of a package deal that included tickets to the Bear Valley Music Fest. Fourth floor corner room was quiet, clean, and bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. This facility is nearly 50 years old and there are parts of facility that show their age (like pretty funky elevator... More

My Husband and I were driving from Yosemite to South Lake Tahoe and drove through Bear Valley. There was quite a hard snow fall and the road was closed so we ended up staying there the night. We arrived late and no one was about but the staff in the bar next door were really helpful in calling the Manager... More

We have visited each of the last two summers for a sports camp. It was built in the mid 1960's and was all the rage then. A cosmetic update last year has helped a lot, but it is still a ski chalet circa 1969. If you are expecting Hyatt or Four Seasons, you will be sorely disappointed. If you just... More

Wow. I hadn't been in the Lodge since last year and they have done a complete remodel of the lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant areas. And they got a new chef who is French but not stuffy. Prices are reasonable, you always meet someone interesting and they actually like talking with you. Last time I was in the bar, the... More

We decided to go skiing in Bear Valley. We looked at lodges in Arnild but decided that the location to the ski hill was so good with the Bear Valley lodge we picked that. We checked in not expecting a J.W. Marriott but just a comfortable lodge. When we walked I'm we saw a cheap vending machine. Then the front... More

We are very sorry for your unpleasant stay back in 2013. Though the property retains it's intended rustic charm, we do hope you'll come back and see many of the marvelous improvements and upgrades since your stay a year and a half ago as we are under NEW management since December of 2014.The Creekside Restaurant is creating a name for... This is an old hotel in a remote area. The rooms are reasonably priced. Yes, the place could use some new carpets etc, but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The lobby area is classic and beautiful and the pool is great. They send their bed sheets out to be cleaned and even so we found a... More

I stayed at the Bear Valley Lodge in the wintertime and enjoyed skiing at Bear Valley. I was a little taken back by the cost for the room but it's a resort area what you expect. The rooms are very dated but cozy. The staff at the Lodge were very friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. I would recommend... More

Stayed at the Lodge one night with wife and kids (ages 5 & 2) for kids' first snow trip. I read the reviews beforehand so knew what to expect. Good news: Great location. Bad news: lodge is old. When we got into our room, my wife (who weighs 120lbs) sat on the bed and it collapsed. Maintenance was skeptical it... More

Took my family up for the evening to go sking the next day. The place is pretty old and looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. That being said, the rooms were OK and the location can't be beaten if you are going skiing. Also, the service from the front desk crew was outstanding. They really go out... More
