Not much can I say about the Lochaline Hotel; other than its bar being among the finest in the West Highlands of Scotland! Great Host (Charles), great drink/s, great locals, great strangers, You will feel welcome. Cheers.

This is quite remote so the choice of eateries is not huge; we initially thought we'd made a mistake but the meal was good (we just visited for dinner, not overnight). Take no notice of the lack of welcome in the past-its-sell-by public bar. Order your meal - specials board and menu - and you'll be taken into the dining... More

As a mature couple on a cycling honeymoon to Scotland, we stayed in 15 different places in August 2104. This was our fourteenth stop and one of the most disappointing. There is a wonderful view of the loch from the bedroom window but the whole feel of the place is from years ago. The bar is not especially welcoming so... More

Knew it was going to be 'unusual' when we booked at none of the rooms were ensuite. Even so I was not prepared for quite how dated the accomodation is - and the shower rooms were definately below par. Nevertheless, we got a friendly welcome and breakfast was good - again with friendly service. It is a stunning location but... More

A lovely traditional "old fashioned" hotel, lots of personal attention, friendly locals & great value. A wonderful remote location and inspiring views over the Isle of Mull. The food was fresh and quality, with good variety considering that it is a small hotel.

Another visit to Lochaline, ( the village on the Ardnamurachan Peninsua where I grew up) and another great meal in the Lochaline Hotel, which I reckon serves the best fish and chips in Scotland. I always look at the menu which is varied and very reasonably priced but can never get past the haddock because its always excellent, and find... More

We visited Lochaline to do some diving knowing little or nothing about the actual area. We had a great weekend and the best decision we made was to spend our 3 nights at the Lochaline Hotel. If you want coffee machines, satellite TV or indeed en suite you are probably aiming at the wrong part of the UK, never mind... More

It's so often having read the menu in some hotels or pubs, high expectations are dashed when the food arrives - this is not the case at the Lochaline Hotel where the food exceeded expectations and was great value. Also, fantastic cooked breakfasts, which I enjoyed the whole week. But what stood out most was the great hospitality and friendly... More

In a beautiful setting, with great views this is a friendly, hospitable and very down to earth bed and breakfast hotel. The service was first rate and the restaurant was excellent with well cooked wholesome food, the smoked salmon was particularly good, the cooked breakfast was excellent and perfectly set you up for a great days fishing. The packed lunches were... More

I just can't believe they can charge what they charge without providing free WiFi, a Nespresso machine in the bedrooms, en-suite facilities, complementary newspaper in the morning and a turndown service! This is Lochaline, so your choices of where to stay are going to be limited. If you consider things from that viewpoint, then a lot is excusable. I have... More
