We stopped along 99 and checked out the Marriott Courtyard - room rates were $99 for the night. I had looked online and saw that the Padre Hotel had comparable rates and so suggested to my husband, we spend our night at the Padre rather than a typical run of the mill hotel along 99. Wow, were we blown away,... More

If you have to go to Bakersfield, stay at this hotel, no question. I am a pretty well-seasoned traveler who has enjoyed very nice hotels, and I was not disappointed one bit by the Padre. In fact, I was blown away that something like this could be in Bakersfield. I love design, and the entire hotel, from the bathroom tile... More

We arrived filthy and exhausted from exploring desert, and were met by about fifty people wanting to take our bags and car. It came as a bit of shock! The room was stunning (the large shower with a window view was particlularly appreciated) and the service excellent. We ate at a great tapas restaurant round the corner, and had a... More

As others have pointed out, if you have to be in Bakersfield, this is the place to stay. This place could be put anywhere in a metropolitan area(SF,NYC, LA) and do just fine. Cool and hip decor and with several nice places to hang out - the Fire & Ice outdoor lounge, the dance club, the "older" crowd lounge. Good... More

Hands downt the only place to stay in bakersfield. I loved the old Padre but the remodel has brought back it;s past life. The rooms are amazing and the beds are perfection...best I have slept on in a hotel. Food was great at all of the spots within the hotel ( We ate at them all) Don't bother with any... More

Hotel is beautiful, rooms are pretty big and the bathroom really cool. But the service was really bad!!! When we arrived we let our car to the valet. Nobody help us with our luggages. Then when we tried to go to sleep: impossible! There was a party at the club (open air, with half of the rooms on that side... More

A big city boutique hotel without the big city trappings. We stayed to visit friends while we were in the area for a trackday at nearby Buttonwillow Race Park. Rates comparable to ratty motels. Excellent details, comfort and luxuries. Can't believe the deal we stumbled upon, and can't see it lasting. We hope it does. Glad we got a chance... More

History, folklore and style come together when you find rest at this modern hotel. We loved our room with a comfy king bed with nice linens and a fabulous shower. The wallpaper in the hallways reflected the turn of the century oil culture of a boom town and the large photo murals with great sayings were a nice welcome to... More

I love this hotel, we are still missing that bed! Slept like babies. We had one of their 40 Winks Room because we were in town just for the night of 09/25/10 (For the Kern County Fair, yes I follow my favorite band anytime that they are in California "Air Supply"), they played at the fair that night; anyway we... This hotel was rated #1 when we checked TripAdvisor for our one night Bakersfield stay. And, WOW, I see why. It's in the historic downtown Bakersfield area and it was oozing with sophistication and charm. There is minimal street parking near the hotel and there is not a parking lot, so you pay a valet fee to have your vehicle... More
