I live in LA and I used to dread my Bakersfield business trips. Once I discovered The Padre, I started creating excuses to go. The Padre is an oasis in Bakersfield and similarly priced to the depressing hotel chains nearby. Rooms- spacious and the bed is soooo comfy. The place has a very cool vibe and the bar scene can... Used this hotel as a stopover between Yosemite and Las Vegas and what a welcome sight it was. The lobby was noisy and our room (on the 4th floor) was next to the left so I was slightly concerned. All worries disappeared when I entered the room however. The bed was super comfortable with a beautiful large walk in shower.... More

Spent short but fantastic one night at the Padre. In Bakersfield for a soccer tournament. Nothing against the locals, but I dread the drive on this twice yearly trip from LA. And with the prospect of economy motels, I was even less excited. Then I found the Padre on line. Same prices as the nearby marriott properties. The hotel was... More

nice people, quiet rooms, everything you need in the room and bathroom is there, not much light in the room if you want to read, but the main point is that it must have been really nice 10 years ago, now it is rather tired and used. So if you need a nice place there we suggest this, but if... More

I travel for work often. I usually stay at a chain, however the one in Bakersfield was bad so I found The Padre Hotel and it is CLEAN, GORGEOUS, offers a pretty lobby, great bar, 2 places to eat and have coffee and LUXURIOUS rooms. Great flat screen TV's, high end shampoos/lotions, sleek tile. If you have to go to... More

My husband and I recently visited Bakersfield and I was so impressed with his choice of hotels! The Padre looks amazing, feels plush, and when I asked how much we were paying I was amazed at how affordable it was! Perfect for a little romantic get-away! We will be back!!

This place is so beautiful. Right when you walk thru the doors, you forget you're in Bakersfield and immediately feel you're transported to Las Vegas. This hotel is that caliber. It was a surprise on the affordability, yet very trendy, clean and most of all great service. Once there, unless you have business to tend to, there is no need... More

I stayed 4 nights at this lovely establishment. The rooms were very clean and ecletic. I loved the fact that I could even watch tv from the shower! Everyone from the valet attendants to the in-room dining service workers were outstanding. The only problem I had with it was the $10 charge/day for valet. The hotel is located downtown and... More

Last Dec, we drove down from the Bay Area to catch Merle Haggard at the Fox Theatre and booked a night at the Padre, really convenient for the Fox, just a couple of blocks away. Arrived fairly early for check-in, but the desk staff were very accommodating and worked to get us a room right away. We had booked a... More

Based on reviews here, we were looking forward to our one night stay at the Padre. We'd booked a room with two doubles for ourselves and one child. When we checked in, they told us we had a king bed and the child 'could sleep on the sofa'. We said no, and they argued with us, saying it was our... More
