The managers, a young couple are adamant about keeping the place clean and cool. My car broke down and I needed a place to stay. This was the only place open and although it is a bit of a worn place, they keep it clean, cool (it reached 117 outside/ 70 inside!) and above all 'critter free'. They walls were... More

The Wills Fargo employees I interacted with, seemed like nice enough folks. It's run by a poor immigrant family, just struggling to make a living. Perhaps a bit over their head running a very busy roadside motel- in the heart of the Mojave Desert. If you open the sliding glass bathroom window- you can see accross a patch of wasteland;... More

I hadn't planned on stopping in Baker, but do to a wrong turn and night approaching I gave it a try. There is no choice, it is the only accommodation in Baker and don't they know it. Rooms are rundown, heating is crappy, furnishings old, some light fixtures didn't have shades. Signs said hot water takes time, be patient. I... More

We asked for a room in the back and we got it! Nice and quiet. It is just across the street from the world's largest thermometer and Bun Boy (both out of commission). We got a good night's sleep there after a long, hot drive.

We booked in to Wills Fargo with some trepidation given the broken down state of the place, but there was other option in Baker so we summoned our courage and took the plunge. What a gem of a place. Comfortable bed, quiet, plenty of hot water, good AC, safe, cheap and friendly staff. sure the furniture and decor was pretty... More

We stopped at the Wills Fargo on our way back from a Route 66 road trip on the way to Vegas. It was a very average motel, aside from the pink bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice. I'm 5'2" and could only see my forehead in the bathroom mirror, but that wasn't a big deal. The... More

My car broke between Barsow and Baker. Tow truck guy took me there. Bathroom window had no screen or lock. Scary concidering it faces the desert so anything could crawl thru. Cockroaches in shower and even woke up with some in my bed. I was so glad to get out of there.

What do you need on a stop over between California and Vegas? Baker's a dusty town who's claim to fame (world's largest thermometer) is on recession hiatus until some big boy thinker decides to buy up Baker's strip to shortcut the Vegas tourist trade. Until then all we needed, we got at the Wills Fargo. Very nice, modest, un-uniformed, helpful... More

If your looking for a motel in Baker this is it. The other two motels have closed down with the rest of the town. This is just the basic horseshoe shaped motel with a pool in the middle, the rooms were nice and clean and the bed was comfy. I went to get some ice in the office only to... More

I recently had a job in Baker with another in the Mojave Preserve the next day, and was stuck with a dilemma: find a place in town, drive an hour one way to Barstow, or drive an hour the other way to Stateline. Barstow had some nice new hotels, so that was one option. After perusing the reviews for the... More
