This hostel is in the center of Popayan. The entrance is through a small and noisy cafe where you can also have your breakfast. It has only one floor and all the rooms lead to a corridor or to the back patio where is the kitchen (kind of "L" structure). At the reception there are 2 computers with internet that... More

Stayed for a couple nights at start and end of trip to San Agustin. Stored my pack for free while I went away for a few days. Great location, centrally located and close to town, bus station (approximately 15min walk) and supermarket. Staff extremely friendly and helpful (especially Jenny - sorry I know it's not the right spelling!!). Had a... More

The hostel itself is very cute and the facilities are good . The issues with this hostel are noise and light ( and Internet if you are in the room at the back - the 4 bed mixed dorm ) . This room had an entire wall which was a window and backed onto both the bathrooms and kitchen .... More

Perfect location, very clean, hot water, great kitchen, very nice and helpful staff!!! The only "bad" thing was the bed! I stayed in a 4 bed dorm and 3 beds made very loud noises as soon as you moved a bit! For 1 night it's no problem... But I didn't get a perfect sleep! Otherwise everything was just PERFECT!!!

The place was nice, comfy beds etc. my only problem with this hostel was their laundry service. I had my washing done the day before I left for the early morning bus at 6:30am. It was difficult to organise as they couldn't do it that day, which was fine no problem. It was only when I asked if there was... More

What they have: kitchen, common area, lockers, laundry and rooms that hear everything that's happening in the hostel. What they don't have: free coffee, friendly staff. If I were to do Popayan again, I'd forget Cacora and stay somewhere else. Nothing worse than a staff that doesn't really like what they do. Every time you ask them a question they... More

Hi Guy, Sorry to hear that you didn´t enjoy your time in the Caracol and I am particularly disappointed that you feel you didn´t recieve good customer service. Our staff usually get great reviews on their customer service and really take the time to make guests feel at home during their stay in Popayan. Either way, I am sorry that... More

Stayed one night in a four bed dorm which was cosy with not much space. 3/4 bathrooms, all clean but lacking in hot water. Felt very secure and had excellent lockers with power sockets inside. Average kitchen, not very well stocked but did the job. Nice communal area and friendly, helpful staff. 15 minutes walk from the bus station.

Of course it is, and not just because "Caracol" means snail in Spanish! We moved to Hostel Caracol from another hostel in Popayan (ah, more on that one in another review!), and found a haven for the rest of our week long visit. Fronted by a small coffee shop, the hostel is all on one floor (street level, great for... More

Well located to the center, good ambiance and vibe, very friendly and informative Scottish owners, quiet, older crowd (you want more younger atmosphere, go to their other hostel, Hostel Trail), comfortable beds, extremely clean bathrooms with lovely hot showers, basic but well laid out kitchen to accomodate the jostling around of cooking with other travelers at the same time. Tony... More
