Laguna Seca stands as one of the few destination hotels in Peru worth visiting for its own sake. Where else can you have a private hot-spring fed mini-pool in your own room, or three large public pools fed directly from mineral-rich geothermal water, changed twice-weekly? The grounds are peaceful, well tended and green. The staff is attentive and capable, although the front desk was a bit slow on check-in and check-out.
The rooms were clean, and in addition to the huge tub/small pool that takes about 10 minutes to fill with the natural spring water, they are well appointed. There is satellite television, reliable wifi internet, comfortable beds and pillows, and a portable heater available on demand to combat the cold Andean nights. The on-site restaurant is very good, although the service is slow and the prices higher than other restaurants in Cajamarca.
