We've just returned from a stay at the only Yurt in Achray Campground, Algonquin Park. Algonquin yurts are very basic, and except for a fire pit, barbecue beds, table and chairs you will have nothing to link you to civilisation. Bring a canoe or rent one in advance from a local provider, because you have to get out on the... More

Took a trip this past weekend to the Achray Campsite with my girlfriend. What a beautiful spot! Slightly Sceptical at first as our site (#12) wasn't very private. However because the this campground is so small it never feels crowded. There are 2 very nice beaches and even though the site was full this weekend there were never more than... More

Spent a night this past weekend at Achray in Algonquin. The site is on a lake, and is just beautiful! We were in one the spots right off the beach, and had a water spiggot and flush toilets close by (which was very convenient for us inexperienced campers). Toilets were clean and stocked with paper and soap. Beach was exceptionally... More

My husband and I camped at Achray from June 6-10 this year and we both loved it. We stayed on site 34, right on the lake. It's a radio free campground so it was wonderfully quiet. From our site we could hear loons, owls, whip-poor-wills and frogs. The site had decent privacy and it didn't feel like you were right... More

Forget Algonquin Park at once. And especially Achray. Any stay in there puts you to the mercy of utterly stupid park rangers. So, for those who don't know what an Ontario park ranger is, here is a bit of a description: it is basically a male in his thirties who failed most of his scholarship after primary school. Most of... We had a lovely stay at this campground. We sat on spot 27, right next to the beach. Many spots are next to the beach by the way. This campground is radio-free, so very quiet. Helpful staff at the campground office is around to help were needed. We did the Barron Canyon hike, this was one of the most spectacular... More
