Loved Algonquin for its beautiful scenery, wildlife ( saw Two Moose ), hiking, swimming, biking and just enjoyed family time. We loved Canisbay Lake for kayaking and canoeing as it was so natural and not crowded with other boaters. We enjoyed campfires during our four night stay and was very impressed with privacy of our campsite.

We were on site 23, a walk in site and loved it. There was a good spot of higher ground to place our tent in prep for the rain, though the path to the car floods (see pics). When it was just spitting we were still able to stay out at the campfire because of the tree cover. Mosquitos weren't... More

Canada's premiere provincial park is just outstanding. Filled with so many options. This campground was ok - nicely wooded though my particular site (153) was very small. Good restroom and shower facilities. Nice lake area/picnic at the end of the campground road. Be aware no cell service could be had at this site but could within a kilometer.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Canisbay Lake for two nights on June 5, with 4 friends joining us for the second night. There was a bit of confusion when checking in as they asked us for everyone in the parties first and last name and we were unsure of the last name of some of the significant others that... More

This is a great campground if not the greatest in the park. Nice big places, lots of privacy. Toilets and shower buildings are big and clean. Keep in mind that u are in the beginning of the back country, so keep your spot clean of food scraps, and burn your leftovers and meet bones in a hot fire. We had... More

Stayed here last year for the long weekend. There is no cellphone reception here which I rather enjoyed being unplugged (kind of the point of camping I think). It's nicely layer out but it did seem that the trees were rather sparse as a bug had gone through and the park had to clear some so it's not as private... More

We've been coming to Algonquin and camping at Canisbay for decades and love it. You get the odd first time camper or ignorant group who's a bit loud but for the most part people go camping to relax and have fun with their friends and family! First time post for me on tripadvisor and I'm surprised at some of the... More

We stayed 5 nights in the no-electric side of the grounds. During the week is was quiet and low key. Friday night got busy and louder, but that's to be expected. The water is clean and the beach area a little coarse, but good. The no-electric side is a little far from the beach so we drove. The path between... More

We have been to Pog Lake and Rock Lake numerous times but decided to stay in the West end this past Labour Day Weekend. We found our sites (104/105) to be large and most sites during our walks around the park to be the same, some very private. The lake was nice and we had no issues at all.
