It is a pity as the location is perfect, right next to the ocean and some of the rooms have fabulous views. Nicely situated near the old port and within walking distance from the Ruins. For the amount of money you pay $100 for a double and $120 for a triple you are not getting enough. The rooms desperately need... More

Our group of 4 booked nearly a week in advance, then called to reconfirm 2 days before arriving. The hotel lost our booking. We were lucky to get rooms for the first night; we had to find another hotel for the second night. The service at the bar/restaurant is terrible. We arrived late one evening and checked that the restaurant... More

This hotel is in a large, historic building right on the ocean. I have no idea what the building was originally, though much of it feels like some one's old house that has been converted into a hotel. The entry area is this huge room covered with tarp where you can eat breakfast and hang out at night if you... More

The hotel has an amazing location, and they have a great resturante serving tasty lebanese food. The only negative thing is the rooms. I don't know if alle the rooms are old and have mold, but my room was like this. It was dirty, hade bugs and really needed a redecorating. If you don't mind this then you can stay... More

Shame what has happened to this place. Used to be so charming. I hope they will get their act together but there are no signs that they are even interested in that. Now it is run-down, dirty, cockroach infested, and, contrary to what they say, not all the rooms overlook the water. They have a very small beach, but it's... More

Al-Fanar is a hotel, restaurant, bar that sits directly on the shores of the Mediterranean in Tyre, Lebanon. The rooms are basic but generally clean and comfortable. We strongly suggest rooms in the main building, not the annex across the street. What makes Al-Fanar a special place is its location. The rooms in the main building look out onto the... More

Al Fanar is situated in a charming tiny street of the old Christian quarter of the city, a few steps away from the fishermen’s seaport. The hotel is just by the sea and has a small private beach with a restaurant and a bar just over the water. The problem is that the rooms (90 USD and more) are dark,... More
